The Children’s Directorate continues to grow and evolve in line with our changing population and localities, and as part of our transformation, we are offering exciting opportunities to join our established Commissioning, Placements and Quality Assurance Teams

City of Doncaster Council ensures that all services are commissioned and quality assured against evidenced local need and statutory frameworks in line with local and national priorities.

As an experienced Commissioner you will lead on a defined
portfolio of work around the commissioning cycle, with a particular focus on Children’s Social Care. You will commission high quality services in line with national and local agendas to ensure improved outcomes for children and young people and their families. You will join us in working proactively with our partners and stakeholders to make the very best use of available resources and continuously review services to ensure they are high quality and value for money.

As a dynamic and innovative Commissioner, you will work across diverse areas such as Children’s Residential Care, Independent Fostering and 16 Plus Supported Accommodation providing commissioning expertise across the Directorate and leading the Placements Team to ensure that Children and Young People are placed in settings that meet the required needs.

The role will respond to the changing health, education and social care agendas and play a role in influencing multi-agency arrangements to support change and improve outcomes for children. The role is varied and you can expect to work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders and on occasion you may be expected to work unsocial hours to meet the needs of the service.

The appointed person will need to have experience in the Education, Health or Social Care sector with demonstrable knowledge of legislative frameworks or experience in commissioning services or brokering placements for Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults. Effective communication and engagement skills, and the ability to manage sensitive discussions and situations are essential along with experience of using Microsoft Office and Google suites.
