Job Title Cornwall Carers Service Adviser

Salary £9,932 which is pro rata FTE £24,500 based on 37 hours per week.

Reports to Advice Services Manager

Duration Permanent subject to continued funding

Place of work Guildford Road Industrial Estate, Hayle, TR27 4QZ

Working hours 15 hours per week worked over 2 days, days and times to be mutually agreed.

Role Purpose

To be the first point of contact for the Cornwall Carers Service, providing Level 1 and 2 information, advice, and practical support. The role ensures carers receive appropriate assistance, enhancing their wellbeing and preventing crisis situations.

Key Responsibilities

Carer Support:

  • Respond to enquiries via phone, email, social media, and video calls.
  • Provide information and advice on health, welfare, housing, employment, and leisure opportunities.
  • Work one-on-one with carers to identify needs and explore solutions.

Coordination and Liaison:

  • Refer carers to relevant partners for additional support.
  • Maintain relationships with partner organizations for effective information-sharing.

Administration:

  • Keep accurate records using a case management system.
  • Develop and maintain user-friendly information resources.

Follow-Up and Feedback:

  • Ensure carers’ needs are met and outcomes are achieved through follow-up actions.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competency in MS Office and case management systems.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Reliability, confidentiality, and a team-oriented attitude.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding of carers’ challenges or experience in advice roles.
  • Familiarity with the Equality Act (2010) and Care Act (2014).
