Enhancements / additional payments details

A retention payment of £4,000 per year which will be spilt into two payments, in December and June. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months employment and successful completion of your probationary period.

The retention payment increases the annual renumeration to between £53,764 – £55,662 and is reviewed annually.

We are seeking to appoint a forward thinking, experienced, motivated and qualified town planner who is keen to make a significant contribution in the performance and achievements of our Major Applications Development Management Team.

You will have significant experience of dealing with complex major planning applications, preapps and appeals. You will need to be a team player with a positive approach, willing to contribute to the delivery of transformational change and continuous improvement to secure excellent customer service. As well as being a case officer for major applications you will support the Team Leader Nick Hirst in day to day management of the team and work alongside our existing Masterplanner Victor Grayson.

This role is for someone with extensive Development Management case officer experience. As the case officer for our complex and strategic sized planning applications you will contribute towards the planning, design and creation of the masterplans and design frameworks and infrastructure delivery plans to make our key strategic sites a reality. You will be asked to lead on the planning stages, coordinate across the Council’s services the infrastructure requirements to help shape and realise the strategic housing and mixed-use sites.

You must demonstrate sound knowledge of current planning legislation and associated guidance in your application; have good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; listening, and negotiation skills; an ability to accept responsibility and work constructively within a small team; an ability to organise and prioritise own workload; and competence in working in a digital environment. You will be required to travel across the district to satisfy the duties of the post and a current driving licence is therefore desirable. Our office days are Thursdays and Fridays and every other Tuesdays based in Huddersfield town centre with remote working the other days.
