Director of Sales

Are you an experienced Director of Sales with a passion for the hospitality industry and enjoy working within the MICE Sector?

We are recruiting for a Director of Sales to join our team at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms.


As the Director of Sales you will
lead all proactive sales activity for the property, creating and implementing a cohesive and proactive Sales & Marketing plan. As a key member of the property’s Senior Management team, you will also play an active role in the development of the venue’s business plan, focussing on building long-term, profitable client relationships to enable revenue growth and retention. You will also work closely with the wider De Vere Sales teams to help drive sales and positively represent the Company at various events.


Your Skills & Experience:

  • You have a proven track record of developing and winning new MICE business and significantly growing existing customers, and a strong understanding of the UK market, particularly the meeting and conferencing market
  • You have experience within the hotel/hospitality sector and will ideally have some local M&E agency sector knowledge and experience using OPERA although this is not essential
  • You are naturally confident, highly driven and have a focused and ambitious nature.

The Role

What will I be doing?

  • As Director of Sales, you will analyse local market trends and competitor activity to recommend strategies that keep the hotel a leader in the marketplace
  • Integral part of the growth & development of future and repeat business
  • Analysis local market trends and competitor activity to identify business leads
  • Develop customer accounts and travel within the local area to drive business into the specific hotel/cluster and to increase market/customer share in all revenue streams
  • Negotiate room rates/packages with corporate clients
  • Develop and implement creative local marketing channels, including social media channels
  • Prepare company contracts for the hotel in accordance with current business and pricing conditions
  • Work within current business strategies and recognising potential opportunities
  • Cooperate with other departments in the hotel to create an exceptional Guest experience and build strong, comprehensive sales programs
  • Attend Sales events, as required

The Copthorne Hotel Slough – Windsor is seeking an experienced and driven Director of Sales with business acumen to join their fantastic team! As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for the sales effort of the Hotel in line with overall financial business mix objectives.

As Director of Sales your key responsibilities include:

  • Together with General Manager and the Revenue team, develop and implement strategic plans to source, drive and grow revenue across all segments, constantly monitoring results and adjusting strategies and activities to make sure objectives and targets are met
  • To capture a greater market share and increase revenues in conjunction with all sales resources.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing and prospect accounts, taking the lead on rate negotiations and account management activities whilst ensuring we maximise our market share
  • Devise and implement marketing campaigns in support of Food and Beverage sales.
  • Drive and co-ordinate all sales activity to maximise revenue from existing accounts at hotel level, national and international level.
