Job Description

Kido is a place where innovation and imagination unite to create modern Early Years settings. We’re looking for an Early Years Apprentice to join our team at our Crouch End nursery: Earl Haig Hall, 18 Elder Avenue, Crouch End, London, N8 9DE

We are international, operating in India, USA and the UK. In the UK we run 14 Ofsted-rated Good and Outstanding nurseries in London and Windsor, and we’re still growing! At Kido, we blend the best practices from the Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf Steiner approaches and have a unique curriculum for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

What we offer on L2 Apprenticeship

  • The Early Years Apprentice role offers a salary for L2 Apprenticeship of £18200 for full time, 40 hours per week.
  • Once qualified salary increase to £26000

What we offer on L3 Apprenticeship

  • The Early Years Apprentice role offers a salary for L3 Apprenticeship of £19240 for full time, 40 hours per week.
  • A pay increase when you achieve Level 2 competency sign off bringing your salary up to £21320. Usually achievable within your first 2 months of employment.
  • In the second year of your apprenticeship, you will receive a big pay uplift to the minimum wage for age.
  • Once you complete your qualification your salary will increase to at least £26499 and you will be eligible for your qualification bonus of £500 paid in 2 instalments.

The role of Early Years Apprentice…

Welcome to the heart of Kido, where passion, ambition, and people are at the core of everything we do! As an Apprentice you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience within the nursery while working towards a sought-after early years qualification. Our Level 3 course takes approximately 2 years to complete, but offers you advancement to Level 2 sign off as soon as you’re ready. The apprenticeship is designed to be work-based, with dedicated time allocated to support you with relevant learning and study to gain your qualification. Your role will primarily include:

  • Supporting the team in providing a safe and inspiring learning environment where every child thrives
  • Being a team player with a positive can-do attitude, collaborating with the team to deliver engaging activities that align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) standards for child learning and development
  • Effectively communicating with parents, children and colleagues will empower you to deliver the best experience possible
  • Ensuring any safeguarding concerns are raised and acted upon immediately.
  • A hands-on approach and with great attention to detail, you’ll deliver exceptional experiences throughout the children’s learning journeys within our nursery.
  • Getting involved with mealtimes, ensuring all dietary requirements are met, and any other reasonable tasks to ensure the smooth running of the nursery environment

What we’re looking for

  • For the Level 3 Apprentice role you do not need any existing childcare qualifications, but must have genuine passion for Early Years and Childcare and be hardworking and keen to learn
  • To enrol on the Level 3 apprenticeship you must have some evidence of experience with children, ideally in a nursery setting and must hold UK residency for the past 3 years or more
  • Maths and English GCSE is desirable however if you do not have these then you will complete a Level 2 Maths and English Functional Skills test to show competence in these areas
  • Your values will align with our 3 core values – Listen, Learn and Lead
  • If shortlisted you’ll be asked to provide details of all unspent convictions prior to interview, in line with our Safer Recruitment process. We will also process an Enhanced DBS Criminal Record check for anyone who joins the team

You don’t even need any experience!

Kids World Childcare has opportunities available, and offer you the chance to ‘ Earn as you Learn’ whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. The best part? There are no classes to attend!

The moment your journey begins as an apprentice:

You become an employed member of staff

You will be paid an hourly rate.

You will work towards gaining a full qualification – without having to attend classroom based lessons. (Instead you will complete assessments and the tutor will visit you in nursery.

Reality Check

This is an apprenticeship role with an apprenticeship pay grade.

Core hours of work are between 7.15am – 6.30pm Monday to Friday.

40 hours per week all year round.

Throughout your role you are not alone.

We offer you full training, support, guidance and are here to help you progress your career. You even have a personal assessor/tutor assigned to you from the moment you start your journey as an apprentice.

Your role will include:

Working with children between the ages of 0-5 years, organising activities, being pro-active with the help and care carried out within the early years sector.

Assisting and meeting the personal/emotional needs of individual children – Changing nappies, feeding, caring and establishing a relationship with children.

Work (under supervision) providing all aspects of care/support to children, ensuring they take part with day- to- day learning and play activities.

Ensure that the setting is safe, clean and well presented.

Collaborate with colleagues ensuring the highest standards of work are carried out and are provided throughout your role in a positive manner.

To contribute to a high quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.

Attend team meetings and contribute relevant ideas.

Be able to understand and implement the setting’s policies and procedures.

Contribute towards an effective and supportive team environment.

Throughout this role, you will gain extensive knowledge and experience within the working environment which will set you up for a great career upon completion. This will hopefully lead to permanent employment within the early learning year’s sector or even continue to the next level, undertaking further training.

Job Description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic person to join our team as an Early Years Apprentice, working with children up to the age of 5 years old. This is a fantastic opportunity to train and obtain an Early Years qualification whilst you work.

You will be working 38 hours per week over four or five days.

Full training and induction provided.

We are a large ‘Good’ nursery surrounded by countryside, including very own Forest School area, with a big emphasis on the outdoors, .

You must be flexible and want to promote children’s learning by providing exciting opportunities in their play. To work as part of a team to create a safe, caring, and welcoming environment, in which parents are happy to entrust their child and where their child is encouraged to flourish in an enabling and stimulating environment.

Must have own transport as not on a bus route
