Job title: Electronics Test Engineer

Location: Maidenhead, Berkshire

The Malloy Aeronautics Team:

Malloy Aeronautics Limited specializes in the development of heavy lift unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for both civilian and military uses. Located in Berkshire, our operations are notable for their focus on in-house design and manufacturing. This vertical integration means we control the production of most aircraft components on-site, enhancing our ability to innovate and maintain high standards across all stages of development.

About The Role:

As an Electronics Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and reliability of our electronic products. Your primary responsibility will be designing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive test protocols for electronic systems and components. Working closely with both the production and engineering teams, you will develop test strategies and perform validation to ensure that all products meet industry standards and customer requirements.

You will be involved in testing from prototype through to production, troubleshooting electronic systems, identifying root causes of issues, and recommending solutions to improve product performance. This role requires an analytical mindset and a keen attention to detail, as you will be responsible for the accuracy and reliability of the test processes used to verify product quality.

Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK

What you’ll being doing:

· PCB troubleshooting at component level of issues that arise during ground/air production tests.

· Report to management on open issues, the frequency and type of issues.

· Collate suggestions for improvement in each product line or individual component that can be fed into design updates.

· Write monthly engineering reports for contracts.

· Work with R&D and the production manager to ensure prototypes are transferred smoothly into production.

· Ensure constant compliance with safety procedures.

· Writing and updating documentation related to new test procedures.

· Design, implement, and maintain test procedures and equipment for electronics testing.

· Conduct functional testing, reliability testing, and environmental testing to ensure product compliance.

· Troubleshoot and diagnose electronic and system-level failures, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

· Collaborate with the engineering team to refine test protocols and recommend design improvements based on test data.

· Document test results and maintain comprehensive records of testing activities and findings.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing methodologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.

· Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality assurance guidelines.

Essential Skills and Experiences:

· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field.

· Previous work experience in electronics manufacturing.

· Good broad electronics knowledge, including digital communications, analogue, PSUs, batteries

· Experience in fault-finding in mechanical, electronics and/or software systems.

· Proven experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, and validation processes.

· Strong understanding of electronics principles, circuitry, and test equipment.

· Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

· Excellent communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.

Desired Skills and Experiences:

· Degree or equivalent in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering or similar

· Experience with unmanned/manned aircraft tests

· PCB design experience.

· Experience with automated test systems and data analysis tools.

· Familiarity with environmental testing and reliability testing methodologies.

· Knowledge of industry standards for electronics testing.

· Familiarity with statistical analysis and test data interpretation.

· Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
