Job Opportunity: General Manager/Operations Manager – 1st Electric Inc.
1st Electric Inc., a leading electrical contracting company in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to oversee and optimize all aspects of our operations. This pivotal role combines your technical expertise with strategic leadership to drive company growth and maintain our reputation for excellence. The General Manager will report directly to the Owners and lead the company toward continued success.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth coordination between field teams, project management, and warehouse operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve processes, team efficiency, and overall business performance.
- Supervise warehouse operations, including inventory management, material availability, and procurement processes.
Team Leadership
- Provide leadership, supervision, and mentoring to electricians, apprentices, and support staff.
- Foster a positive company culture that emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and excellence.
- Conduct weekly safety and operations meetings to ensure adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
Client Relations and Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Cultivate new strategic partnerships to drive business growth.
- Act as an ambassador for 1st Electric, promoting exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
Project Oversight
- Collaborate with Project Management and Estimation teams to review project status, analyze progress, and optimize manpower utilization.
- Ensure high-quality project execution, compliance with safety standards, and adherence to the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Provide backup coverage and support for the Working Supervisors as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification as a licensed journeyperson electrician.
- Minimum 10 years of work experience as a licensed electrician, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and best practices in residential and commercial electrical settings.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
- Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage several priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with battery backup systems, solar systems, generators, or small engines is considered an asset.
- Highly motivated with strong work ethic and excellent written/verbal communication.

Pay: $85,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
