Job Description

We’re looking for a Head Chef/Kitchen Manager for our beautiful village pub/restaurant serving a traditional pub menu with fresh, seasonal cuisine. We’re offering a competitive salary, achievable bonus and sensible hours of work.

Our 15th Century village community local is an independent family owned, traditional British pub and kitchen, with a good local following, destination dining, a variety of functions and parties and our bi-monthly food and wine pairing nights.

It is a popular establishment within the local community and can cater for up to 150 covers a day at the weekends.

We are looking for a talented Head Chef to take this business to the next level working with the owners and general manager to lead and motivate the small kitchen team. There will be autonomy for the right candidate to put their stamp on the menu embracing the ideas of the owners.

Benefits for the Head Chef include a generous salary of up to £35,000 (dependant on experience) + achievable quarterly productivity bonus worth up to £5200pa and tips of circa £3000 per annum, giving an OTE of £43000pa. We want our head chef to have a decent work/life balance with sensible hours and the opportunity to enhance the current food business .

The Chefs prepare fresh, seasonal cuisine and the main menu changes seasonally and the owners are keen to introduce a specials board weekly. Where possible they champion local suppliers, farmers and artisan producers.

The ideal Head Chef will have previous experience within a similar fresh food kitchen and be looking for their next challenge. As Head Chef you will be in control of all aspects of the day to day running of the kitchen designing menus, costing, stock control, ordering and ensuring all health, hygiene and safety procedures are in place. You will also have full input into the hiring and management of new staff.

Due to the rural location of the establishment your own transport would be beneficial, there are however, local train links to London and South Coast. Live in could be possible for the right candidate with adjusted salary.

We would consider an experienced senior sous chef looking for that next step up the ladder.
