St Andrews care home is a leading provider of residential care. Our home provides a comfortable, safe and homely environment for all of our residents.

We are looking to recruit a Head Cook to join our highly trained and caring team, within our well-presented Residential care home situated in Stanley Durham.

Hours: 40/45 hours to be discussed at interview

Duties & Responsibilities:

This role involves the following duties & responsibilities

  • To comply with all Health and Safety regulations including Food Hygiene and C.O.S.H.H. regulations and ensuring compliance from all kitchen staff.
  • To ensure cleanliness in the Kitchen area at all times and undertake deep cleans of the Kitchen and all food preparation and storage areas on a regular basis.
  • To provide residents with nutritious meals on a daily basis
  • To meet residents dietary requirements as necessary
  • To ensure all kitchen equipment is working at a safe and efficient level of functioning, reporting to Manager any shortfalls.
  • To manage and supervise all kitchen staff, including Rota allocation, holidays, sickness absence cover etc.
  • To ensure all kitchen duties are carried out as safety and hygiene rules dictate.
  • To be aware of duties in respect of fire prevention and evacuation procedures in the event of fire.
  • To cater for functions held within the home i.e. home parties, resident birthday celebrations.
  • To be fully aware of all policies and procedures in the home.
  • To attend and partake in staff meetings.
  • To attend training as required.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience in a similar role is a distinct advantage, however applications from candidates with experience of working in a kitchen setting will be considered as full training is provided.
  • All applicants must be reliable and have strong communication skills.
  • Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure which the expense will be met by the applicant. If you already have an Enhanced Disclosure dated within the last 3 months this is transferable and there will be no need to pay for another. The Employer has claimed an exception under the Equality Act 2010.

Pay: From £12.50 per hour
