Head Housekeeper

We are recruiting for a Head Housekeeper to join our team at De Vere Tortworth Court located in Wotton Under Edge.


The role offers a salary of up to £35,000 and 10% bonus incentive scheme

As the Head Housekeeper you will be responsible for setting, monitoring and maintaining the highest level of housekeeping and guest service standards. Your attention to detail will ensure that our guests enjoy meticulously clean rooms and memorable moments throughout their stay. You will monitor and control equipment and linen to ensure suitable stocks are maintained and costs are controlled. You will lead by example, fostering a culture of warmth where colleagues feel appreciated and by building genuine relationships with your team, you will create a sense of belonging, empowering them to take pride in their work In addition you will act at Duty Manager as and when required.


Your skills and experience:

  • You have previous experience, ideally in a similar property and role
  • You have strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues to deliver a consistent level of service
  • You are well organised with good time management skills, prioritising tasks, managing work schedules and rotas to meet operational demands
  • You are IT literate – previous experience of using Opera or Fourth hospitality would be advantageous although not essential

About the role

As a Head Housekeeper, you will be planning and supervising all domestic, laundry and housekeeping duties required in looking after our residents and staff on a daily basis. It will be your role to ensure that our home is cleaned and maintained to the highest standards, and that our domestic, laundry, and housekeeping complies with the latest Health & Safety and COSHH standards.

Skills and attributes

• Proven experience in a housekeeping role, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of staff members.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of infection control principles and practices, including proper cleaning techniques and use of personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements
