Head of Swimming and Duty Manager
Job Description
Job Summary
The Duty Manager must be organised and proficient in their chosen field and must be able to multitask with ease and confidence.
With leisure experience you’ll thrive in a busy environment and bring the centre team together to offer an exceptional experience to customers and members – as a Duty Manager you’ll be responsible for health & safety and customer care each day. You will also be responsible as a department head. As Head of Swimming you will coordinate timetables. Oversee lessons and administer payments and cancellations. Deliver KPI’s to advance the lessons scheme. Develop new ways of working to help the team achieve its goals. Lead the team of teachers to their potential.
Duty Managers support the ongoing operations manager of the centre and deal with everything – from managing bookings, ongoing H&S compliance, external accreditations (e.g. Quest and IIP), recruitment, site specific compliance checks, and financial management to name but a few! No two days are the same!

The Role:
- To help lead and manage the day to day running of the centre
- To assume the responsibilities of the Centre Manager in their absence
- To help lead and deliver the commercial performance of the business.
- To help lead and deliver the operational excellence of the club.
- To deliver the set KPIs.
- To help recruit, train and develop a team and help lead them to success.
The Candidate:
- Must have experience, ideally in a management position within a leisure related industry including pool based experience.
- Must be passionate about customer service and be an inspirational leader in the way they manage.
- Must be qualified to at least Level 2 Swim Teachers
- Must have experience in driving sales and helping to coordinate and manage a successful team.
- Ideally will have experience as an Assistant Manager helping to oversee all business areas within a leisure facility or have substantial experience as a Fitness or Swimming Manager or other similar operational function.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shifts will include early mornings, evenings, and 1 weekend in 3.
Salary:: £26.500-£29.000 per annum* Pay review under review
