Your responsibilities will include:
- Recruitment. You will develop a good understanding of our needs, and coordinate our recruitment efforts so we can respond to new challenges. You’ll do this in a way that supports our ambition to be the most diverse and inclusive department in government.
- Learning and Development. You’ll lead efforts to improve the L&D offer for our analysts, so we can learn and grow.
- Internal Communication. You will help our community to communicate effectively, both internally and with the wider department.
You’ll also lead a small team to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our analytical function:
- With our Executive Assistant, you’ll set the rhythm of the analytical function, making sure we meet regularly to share information, and that the Director and Deputy Directors are available to everyone who needs their input, advice or clearance
- Alongside our Business Manager, you’ll ensure our decision making is supported by good management information, and that our finances are well managed.
Person specification
Essential requirements:
- The ability to understand customer needs and perspectives, and to identify and resolve tensions between competing needs. Ideally, you will have relevant experience supporting senior officials.
- A record of managing and constantly improving processes, and of proactively gathering feedback and using feedback as a basis for positive change.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to lead (sometimes large scale) meetings efficiently and effectively, and to share written information in a timely and concise manner.
- A track record of supporting and improving equity, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable skills:
- The role includes line management of an EO Executive Assistant and an HEO Business Manager. Experience leading a team, and supporting the development and wellbeing of your staff would be beneficial.
- An understanding, or awareness of, how both finance and recruitment processes in government work.
