ABOUT MCSENCE
The McSence Group is an award-winning Social Enterprise formed in 1988 as a response by the community of Mayfield and Easthouses in Midlothian to the devastating effects of pit and factory closures in the area. Incorporated as a charity, the group now provides a wide range of services including:
Care: Care at Home, Companionship & Home Help
Training: Health & Social Care Training, Health & Safety Training, Manual Handling Suite, Training rooms for hire
Property: Property Maintenance, Cleaning Services, Property Letting, Development & Estate Management
The business is owned by the community in which it is based and is governed by an unpaid board of volunteer Directors. All profits made by the group are either invested in new business ventures or returned to the community in the form of grants to voluntary bodies or individuals in need. We are based in Mayfield, Midlothian and the group has grown to provide a wide range of services across three main areas Care, Property & Training and employs around 250 staff delivering services in Midlothian, East Lothian, Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders.

Salary: £30,000 p/a
Contracted Hours: Full Time hours – 37.5 hours per week.
Working Hours: Regular office hours are from 9.00am to 5.00pm
Driver: Frequent travel and is only open to applicants with a full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle, with business insurance

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Health & Social Care Assessor (L&DL9) to join our Learning & Development (L&D) Team. You should be flexible, innovative and confident and an excellent communicator with the ability to motivate, encourage and lead candidates through their SVQs.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
This is a great opportunity to work within a small but dynamic team. We would prefer candidates to have:
SCQF (L&DL9) Health & Social Care Assessor (or equivalent Assessors qualification).
Health and Social Care qualifications and experience are essential e.g. N/SVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or a formal (British) nursing qualification.
Knowledge of Dementia, Learning Disabilities and Adult Health and Social Care Settings
Experience of working in high demand environments, to targets and tight deadlines
Strong communication and self-motivation skills
Experience of working autonomously
Preferably be a car driver and have the ability and flexibility to travel around the Lothians (and occasionally beyond, mileage costs are payable). Travelling and early starts/late finishes must not faze you! The role will call for some office hours at our Dalkeith base and assessment visits around the Lothian area.
Have an outgoing, engaging personality which will make the assessment process an enjoyable experience for our candidates.
A fully paid induction will be given where you will shadow our experienced assessors, learning the McSence way of assessment. You will be joining a fun, lively team with lots of support and opportunity to develop on a professional level.
