Key Responsibilities

As a Hygiene Operative, you will:

  • Perform scheduled industrial cleaning duties, strictly following Cleaning Instruction Cards (CICs).
  • Safely handle and prepare cleaning chemicals.
  • Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as foamers, power washers, and steamers.
  • Carry out detailed cleaning on machinery, ensuring a spotless finish.
  • Conduct swab tests and visual inspections to verify cleaning quality meets required standards.
  • Regularly monitor and restock cleaning supplies and consumables.
  • Report obstacles to completing cleaning schedules or achieving expected standards.
  • Maintain and clean staff facilities, including regular replenishment of dispensers.
  • Promptly escalate any food safety concerns, such as contamination issues.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment and storage areas are clean, tidy, and well-organized.
  • Regularly empty and clean waste bins throughout the facility.
  • Accurately document cleaning tasks, inspections, and any hygiene-related incidents.
  • Respond quickly to hygiene emergencies, including contamination and spill incidents.

About You

  • You have experience in industrial cleaning, ideally in a food production environment.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to identifying and solving issues.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Ensure that all basic hygiene, health and safety and. To assist the Technical Dept. in the provision of an effective hygiene service to the Deeside Site. This includes both internal and external areas of the factory, general offices, amenities, locker rooms & toilet facilities

TWO WEEK ROTATING SHIFT PATTERN:

– WEEK 1 – Mon – Wed 06:00-14:00, Thurs 06:00-13:00, Sat – Sun 06:00-18:00

– WEEK 2 – Mon- Tues 06:00-14:00, Fri 06:00-18:00

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The operative will be working with a broad range of cleaning chemicals and will be required to store, handle, mix (where appropriate) and apply in a manner that requires a degree of mental effort.
  • The job is performed within the normal factory environment which exposes the job holder to constant dust, dirt, heat, noise and low level vibrations which are tolerable.
  • Some requirement or opportunity to act on own initiative or to exercise judgement with respect to cleaning procedures and schedules.
  • Carry out cleaning duties within areas such as offices, corridors, canteen, locker rooms and toilet facilities.
  • Maintain yard cleanliness & ensure correct segregation of waste intended for disposal or recycling.
  • The general cleaning of all structures, overheads, drains, walls up to and including 7ft in height, and pipework.
  • The general cleaning of production and warehouse areas in accordance with written schedules.
  • Potentially carry out specialist cleaning such as confined space entry and high level cleaning procedures where trained to do so.
  • Carry out cleaning and hygiene schedules in accordance with plant and equipment cleaning instruction cards (cics).
  • The job holder is required to do all tasks considered as relevant by their line manager
  • Responsible for Food Safety, Quality and Legality

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Trained in Manual Handling, Level 2 Food Hygiene, Safe use of chemicals (COSHH), Safe use of Ladders, High Level Access Equipment and Confined space entry – Qualifications are desirable but not essential as training will be provided
  • An acceptable level of performance can be achieved within a eight week training period.
  • H&S Awareness
  • A fork lift truck licence is desirable but not essential
  • A sound working knowledge of the food industry with experience of cleaning and hygiene schedules and cleaning materials

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out hygiene tasks and cleaning procedures
  • Ensure all food safety and legal standards are met in your hygiene work
  • Carry out cleaning processes and stock control of hygiene consumable chemical, mentoring staff and promoting a continuous improvement culture across whilst ensuring customer codes of practice are adhered to
  • Monitoring and improving hygiene standards

The Person

  • We are looking for a hygiene and/or food professional with previous experience of working with high care food manufacturing environment and a proven track record of maintaining the highest of hygiene standards.
  • A knowledge of food hygiene and safety including HACCP, , listeria and micro is important.
  • Chemical awareness including COSHH

A vacancy has arisen for a Hygiene Operative to work on the night shift. The main function of the role is to ensure that the production areas are cleaned adequately, through pressure washing, for production to commence without delay.

Responsibilities:


Main Duties

  • Removal of all loose debris from all surfaces.
  • Dismantling appropriate parts of the machinery to allow cleaning/pressure washing to reach difficult areas.
  • Pressure washing of all machinery and all surfaces within the designated area.
  • Re-cleaning of any area found not to have been cleaned to the required standards identified at the final inspection.
  • Replenishing all dispensers (soap, sanitising gel, paper towels, bin bags) in the hygiene points within the designated areas.
  • Conducting deep cleaning as required.
  • Completion and sign off of all relevant documentation (cleaning schedules, cleaning diary etc.).
  • General hygiene/day cleaning duties when required.
  • General dry and wet cleaning in site amenities when required.
