We have an opening to
support our Pharmaceutical client within the Irvine, North Ayrshire area, offering Laboratory support working within an integrated environment and with a well established team.

The Lab Support Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the Lab Support team, ensuring the delivery of all contracted services, including tasks such as eluent/mobile phase preparation, glassware cleaning, stock and stores management, retained sample handling, customer order preparation, waste management, laboratory equipment PQ testing, raw material sampling, and stability sampling. Reporting to the Lab Support Team Lead, the Coordinator is responsible for the rotation of team tasks, training, and covering absences or holidays as required by business needs. The role requires compliance with GSK/Mitie processes and procedures, and a commitment to working to high standards while escalating any issues promptly.

Due to the nature of the 24/7 site, this role will require the covering of weekends and bank holidays.

Anyone with an allergy to penicillin will not be considered for the role due to the product being made at site.

The Coordinator will manage the coordination of the team’s activities, ensuring tasks are completed according to agreed specifications and performance standards. They will adhere to the ALCOA+ principles (attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, and accurate) and maintain 100% completion in MyLearning & Mitie Learning Hub. The role also involves ensuring that scheduled lab equipment PQ testing is completed as planned, covering activities that support plant production, and managing team absences and holidays. The Coordinator will be expected to deputize and escalate any issues or risks to the Lab Support Team Lead.

The ideal candidate should have at least one year of experience in a similar GxP environment, with a background in a science subject (preferably chemistry) at A level or higher. Attention to detail and the ability to work methodically according to strict processes and procedures is essential. Strong communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships with both internal and external clients, and the ability to perform under pressure and independently are key. The position also requires mobility, as the Coordinator will need to move between various laboratories, and some physical lifting will be necessary.

There will be an element of supervisory required with this role and will suit an experienced individual looking for their first step towards a management role
