Job Description
Job Title: Learning and Development Manager
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Reports to: Head of HR
Location: Leeds Head Office

Job Purpose:
The Learning and Development Manager will oversee and drive our training and development programmes, including the apprenticeship scheme, induction processes, and leadership academy. The ideal candidate will have experience in the children’s care sector or a related field, such as education or local government, with a solid understanding of Ofsted requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Induction Program Oversight
· Deliver and oversee comprehensive induction programs for new staff, fostering a smooth onboarding experience.
· Regularly update induction materials to reflect best practices and regulatory requirements.
2. Training and Development
· Identify staff training needs and develop tailored learning opportunities to address gaps.
· Ensure all training aligns with statutory requirements, including Ofsted and sector-specific standards.
· Stay up-to-date with trends and developments in learning and development practices.
3. Apprenticeship Program Management
· Oversee and manage the apprenticeship scheme, ensuring it supports organisational objectives and staff development.
· Collaborate with internal teams and external training providers to ensure effective delivery.
4. Compliance and Reporting
· Ensure training and development activities meet compliance standards, particularly Ofsted regulations.
· Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports to senior management.
5. Leadership Academy Development
· Design and implement a robust leadership academy to nurture and develop future leaders within the organisation.
· Monitor and evaluate the program’s effectiveness, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
6. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
· Work closely with managers and team leaders to identify skills gaps and training priorities.
· Build strong relationships with external training providers, professional bodies, and other stakeholders.
Person Specification:
Essential experience and knowledge:
· Proven experience in a learning and development role, ideally within the children’s care sector, education, or local government.
· A strong understanding of Ofsted requirements and their application in training and development.
· Experience managing apprenticeship schemes and delivering training programs.
Skills and Attributes:
· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
· Strong organisational and project management skills to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
· A creative and innovative approach to learning and development.
Qualifications:
· Relevant professional qualifications in learning and development or a related field (CIPD Level 5 or higher)
· Teaching or training qualifications are desirable
