Moore Barlow is seeking a Legal Cashier to join our Southampton based finance team.

Our Legal Cashiers play an essential role within our collaborative finance department, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded upon completion of client work. This position is crucial for maintaining compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements while also ensuring timely collection of payments. The role offers a diverse range of responsibilities and involves regular client interaction, making it an excellent opportunity to engage with others while working within a dynamic and professional finance team.

Day to Day:

  • Working as part of the Legal Cashier Team to carry out the daily cashier function of Moore Barlow to include;
    • Processing receipts, payments and transfer of client monies
    • Processing client matter office payments and transfers
    • Ensuring client ledgers are up to date and accurate
    • Reviewing and processing invoices on client matters
    • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Contribute to accurate and timely month end closure. This role includes serving as a hands-on team member responsible for performing and reviewing transactions.
  • Working with the Team to ensure the Solicitor Accounts Rules are being adhered to.
  • Support the delivery of relevant training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Assist with the review and development of relevant training guides and documentation for the team.

What we look for:

  • Previous experience working within a Finance department is essential. This might have been gained as a Legal Cashier, however if you have experience as a Finance Administrator or Assistant, we would encourage you to apply.
  • It is desirable for the preferred candidate to have knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR), although this is not essential as training can be provided.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and Word with accurate keyboard skills.
  • Experience of using Elite 3E would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • A good working knowledge of relevant VAT rules would also be an advantage.
