We’re hiring for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the engineering department at a leading manufacturer based in the High Peak who produce precision tooling, jigs, and fixtures for their building materials manufacturing clients.

  • Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4:15pm / Friday 7:30am – 3:00pm

What will you be doing as a Maintenance Electrician?

  • Carrying out maintenance and repairs on motor drives, controllers, and fault finding on PLC and other control systems
  • Continuously assessing plant and equipment, ensuring its most efficient running
  • Completing assigned workload and following-up documentation as required
  • Escalating and managing issues in a timely manner
  • Ensuring all breakdowns are dealt with in an efficient manner through liaison with the Production Supervisor and Engineering Manager

What do you need?

  • Experience in an engineering maintenance or service role is essential
  • Fault-finding abilities with Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC’s
  • Excellent fault-finding skills are crucial, especially; motor drives, controllers
  • IT literate; including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Educated to HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Extensive Electrical knowledge 17th Edition – progressing to 18th
  • Full UK driving licence; you may be required to travel to alternative sites on occasions

Job Description

Carry out all repairs and planned maintenance requests as assigned by Supervisor. Carry out and complete all work to a high standard to the satisfaction of the client and your Supervisor and appropriate safety requirements. Comply with Safe Systems of Work, operated by the Estates Maintenance Department, together with all relevant Statutory Regulations such as Health & Safety, COSHH, HTMs and other guidance documents, etc. To complete appropriate docket reports and task reports wholly and accurately, in conjunction with the Departments Quality Management System.

Communicate effectively with clients/visitors to ensure jobs are completed to their satisfaction. Project a good image of the Department by good conduct and demeanour. Organise and instruct staff of lower grades when under your control. Use relevant tools/specialist tools and calibrated equipment, PPE and risk assessments on each task to ensure minimal H&S risk to self, staff and public.

Diagnose and repair faults in Electrical Plant and Equipment, have understanding in Mechanical Engineering Services and Plumbing installations, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on to others. Awareness and capability of the working of Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing Systems in NHS buildings. Instruct others on the above features and other aspects of his work. Design, manufacture, assemble, erect and install new works and certify as required.

Perform a basic range of work of other crafts, with appropriate training. Understand fully the inter-relationship between the various maintenance crafts and other groups. Carry out all duties of lower grade craftsmen within the Trust, as requested. Normal duties will include tasks such as repairing pumps, boilers, catering equipment, bedpan machines and general electrical work, together with a wide variety of planned preventative maintenance.

Requisition materials obtain costs, etc. in compliance with the Departments procurement procedures and with Trust Standing Financial Instructions. Utilise knowledge, training and experience to enable basic risk assessments to be carried out prior to any work being undertaken. To be able to work using own initiative if the situation arises.

Work frequently in abnormal conditions and be prepared to carry out arduous tasks. To carry a hand held device as required enabling contact via supervisor for urgent/emergency work repairs and work allocation. Must be prepared to work overtime and participate in “On-Call” Service (if required).

Job Description

Kinetic Recruitment Services are working on behalf of our client, a growing M&E contractor, to find an experienced Maintenance Electrician to work in the central and South London areas.

This is a permanent role paying £21.20 – £23/hr which is a basic salary of £44,000-48,000 p.a with overtime payments and premiums for working nights (minimum of 5 nights a month required).

You will need to be located within commutable distance from the Central/Southeast London area initially, with further projects likely to be located further south of here.

Location: London and Southern region
Hours: Standard is 40 hours on DAYS with some flexibility for WEEKEND NIGHT working for tunnel closures.

Premium Examples:

  • Monday to Friday 06:00-18:00 £21/hr+
  • Monday to Friday 18:00-06:00 NIGHTS £31.50/hr+
  • Saturday and Sunday 06:00-18:00 £31.50/hr+

The main aspect of the work is related to road tunnel infrastructure, with the potential of working on up to 13 road tunnels in and around London and the South of England. The closures are carried out on weeknights and weekend nights so the successful applicant must be willing to adapt to these types of working hours, with a minimum of 5 nights per month required.

They also have a call out system in place and once probation period has been complete, the successful candidate will be added to the rota, worked 1 week in 5.

Experience of working in similar environments of transport infrastructure is preferred, so experience of working for TFL, Crossrail etc would be beneficial.

Personal Specifications and requirements:

  • Fully qualified/JIB approved Electrician
  • 18th Edition
  • Inspection & Testing 2394/2395 or equivalent
  • Experience of carrying out electrical installation/maintenance in a similar environment of transport infrastructure.
  • Flexible to work NIGHTS as & when required, premium paid for night work.

Although not critical, ideally the applicant has experience in work within infrastructure projects and has knowledge of the following assets;
