About the role

As a Maintenance Person, you will make sure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard. Performing regular checks, carrying out repairs and, when needed, contact engineers or service agents. You will be confident in doing fire, basic electrical and appliance checks. As the home’s Maintenance Person, you’ll be a valuable member of their friendly, close-knit team, promoting the well-being of the residents and the successful running of the home.

Home Manager/Asset Manager


Skills and attributes

• Previous experience in property maintenance or a related field
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in the use of computer software, including spreadsheets and word processing programs
• Ability to manage budgets and maintain accurate financial records.

Full Job Description:

Maintenance Person – We are currently seeking a dedicated Maintenance Person to join our

care home facilities team in Leicester. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in

ensuring the safety, comfort, and functionality of our care home environment through

efficient maintenance and repair tasks.

Duties:

– Carry out routine maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of essential systems

such as plumbing, electrical, heating, and ventilation.

– Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify maintenance needs and address

them promptly.

– Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs or replacements.

– Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in all maintenance work areas, ensuring

compliance with health and safety regulations.

– Assist in the procurement of maintenance supplies, equipment, and materials necessary for

ongoing operations.

– Keep accurate records of maintenance activities using digital systems, including work

orders and inventory management.

– Collaborate with other staff members, including caregivers and management, to coordinate

maintenance activities and ensure minimal disruption to resident care.

– Provide courteous and responsive customer service to residents, their families, and other

stakeholders, addressing maintenance-related concerns promptly and effectively.

Qualifications:

– Previous experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a healthcare or senior living

environment.

– Knowledge of basic maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and

HVAC systems.

– Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a proactive approach to

identifying and resolving maintenance issues.

– Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact

professionally with residents, staff, and external vendors.

– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of

a team.

– Compassion, patience, and a commitment to providing a safe and comfortable environment

for residents and staff.

– Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor tasks as required in a care home

setting.
