Role Overview:

They are seeking an Engineering Stores Lead / Maintenance planner to join their team. You’ll be reporting to the Site Engineering Manager. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficiency of their inventory management and maintenance scheduling processes. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 07:00-16:00, with occasional additional hours required to support team coverage and urgent needs.

This is a unique opportunity for a driven individual to take ownership of the engineering stores, lead the rollout of new systems and processes, and support the planned maintenance team in delivering exceptional results.


Responsibilities:

  • Implement and coordinate best-practice inventory management systems to ensure efficient operations.
  • Manage spare parts and refurbishment processes, ensuring compliance with COSHH regulations.
  • Monitor and report stores performance using the CMMS system, focusing on stock accuracy and turnover.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full stock counts to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Optimise engineering spares holding using inventory management and criticality analysis.
  • Enhance parts descriptions and manage materials in the CMMS system (Mainsaver/Spidex).
  • Set and improve minimum and maximum order points for inventory.
  • Actively seek cost-effective and efficient spare parts and inventory solutions.
  • Oversee the accuracy of purchase request information and manage the purchase order process.
  • Lead the 5S program for engineering stores and uphold visual management standards.
  • Manage supplier delivery performance and drive inventory improvement initiatives.
  • Identify obsolete stock and liaise with engineering projects to capture new parts requirements.
  • Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance plans, aligning material lead times with maintenance activities.
  • Review maintenance processes to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain health and safety standards for yourself and others.

As a Maintenance Planner, you will maximise the operating efficiency of the plant and to maintain the assets of the site, by coordination and planning of internal maintenance resources and outsourced human resources, preparing material needs and coordinating machine availability with other departments, in an environment where behaviours are underpinned by Knauf values.


What you’ll be doing…

  • Full responsibility for engineering craftsmen team planning activities, ensuring work is prepared and planned at best possible time in coordination with other departments expectations.
  • manage all maintenance requests / notifications and historical backlog.
  • Create daily and weekly plans, prioritise and communicate effectively.
  • Prepare for each job: materials, tools and procedures before planned date.
  • Define and maintain maintenance KPIs and ensure communication is up to date.
  • Manage contractors and resources in order to achieve planned jobs to complete the required maintenance tasks. This role is responsible for facilities management.
  • Ensure all parts, materials and contracts purchases follow KI procedures, with the right involvement of the purchasing department for best possible cost negotiation.
  • With support from the store person and engineering team, ensure workplace organisation standards are kept and help define the right stock levels and lead times in order to maintain a low working capital with the necessary available parts in stock.

If you have any of the following – this would be an added advantage:

  • Recognized degree in engineering discipline or equivalent by experience
  • Experienced and in-depth knowledge of SAP or any CMMS system.
  • Relevant work experience
  • Leadership and communication style which is approachable and motivating, being engaging to individuals.
  • A demonstrable passion for Continuous Improvement and the ability to example cultural change within a Maintenance team.
  • An understanding of the fundamental principles of Continuous Improvement and the importance of providing the correct environment, in terms of culture and behaviours, to sustain improvement, and experience in creating such an environment.
  • Flexible and with a “make it happen” attitude.
