Working across Northern Ireland, supporting stores and store managers with ongoing maintenance for the company’s property, equipment, and assets. To provide support to the Property and Facilities Department in the carrying out of maintenance work to our Company Owned Company Operated stores, Cash and Carry stores and other buildings as required. This will be achieved through the carrying out of these tasks in person in the main or arranging for specialist contractors to carry out the works.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for the carrying out of routine maintenance works across network of sites throughout Northern Ireland, as required and instructed
  • Working from a preferred supplier list of specialist contractors, management of contractors and onsite works
  • Working with maintenance team lead to ensure detailed weekly updates on all maintenance works
  • Updating maintenance team lead on works completed or ongoing on a daily basis
  • Monthly van stock inventories and keeping van clean and tidy

Essential criteria

  • At least two years previous experience in a maintenance role and/or working with external contractors
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Knowledge of dealing with contractors and or suppliers
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Can do attitude with the ability to embrace change
  • Ability to use email and basic Microsoft programmes

Key Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for:

  • Complying with the health and safety policy and regulations.
  • Resolving breakdowns, carryout PM’s and work on project / improvement works with a view to minimizing production downtime.
  • Carrying out risk assessments with the relevant people and put controls in place to minimise the risk to acceptable levels where reasonably practicable.

  • Actively seek to undertake PMs on offline machinery where time allows.

  • Ensure all communications with external persons are conducted in a professional manner which reflects the company profile.

Qualifications, skills and experience

To be successful in this role we are looking for the right behaviours and competencies as well as a proven track in a similar position. The ideal candidate will ideally have the following:

  • HNC, City & Guilds or time served apprentice with appropriate electrical engineering qualifications.
  • Experience within a similar role ideally gained within a food manufacturing environment, if not food, experience within any manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Electrically or biased, or multi-skilled. PLC experience highly desirable.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems experience highly desirable
  • Flexible approach with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Experience of SAP highly desirable.

The postholder will provide a scheduled preventative and breakdown maintenance service to the manufacturing, warehouse and office environments at the Abingdon & Didcot facilities.   • Complete Dynamic Risk Assessment and Permit to Work documentation and participate in clear handover of items from user to engineering and the reverse after work completed.
  • Carry out routine and emergency repairs to mechanical equipment
  • Agree with supervisors the timing of scheduled maintenance work and use the scheduled maintenance control system
  • Routine maintenance on plant service equipment (Production vessels, cooling towers etc.)
  • Observe the workplace and report/repair faulty equipment
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area, in particular the workshop areas, but also clear away tools and debris after carrying out maintenance work elsewhere.
  • Maintain stocks of engineering consumables and request replacements when needed.
  • Carry out and/or assist in routine testing and inspection of engineering equipment and systems.

Qualifications:

Tasks and Qualifications:

Principal Accountabilities

  • Carry out AMHE equipment servicing in accordance with the quality standards and time schedules as set out in the equipment manuals
  • To undertake scheduled repairs in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and industry standard practices
  • Diagnosis of Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / PLC / PC faults and subsequent repairs
  • Prioritise system faults
  • To comply with Health & Safety legislation at all times
  • To ensure quality of output at all times
  • To accurately record all work undertaken
  • Involvement in continuous improvement and sales opportunities
  • Maintain product flow at all times
  • To ensure on-site spares are kept to optimum levels
  • To represent the company in a professional manner at all times and maintain customer relations
  • To adhere to the Quality processes and procedures as set out by the company

Knowledge & Experience Required

  • ONC or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (electrical preferred)
  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship (preferred)
  • A working understanding of Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic technical manuals & drawings
  • Basic understanding of control systems and techniques
  • Basic understanding of PLC equipment
  • Working at height
  • Previous experience of working with various conveyor systems
  • PC literacy
  • Understanding of pre-preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules

Technical Competencies (Or Local Equivalents)

  • Ability to learn and retain technical information
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and instructions
  • Have a logical approach to fault finding and resolution
  • Operate within a designed structure of pre-planned maintenance
