Midway Care Group are an ever-expanding, Supported Living and Residential care provider to Adults with Learning Disabilities, and we have services all across all the Midland and Surrounding counties.

We are recruiting for Support Workers.


What Will I be doing?

  • I will be supporting people in developing and maintaining daily living skills.
  • I will be identifying and meeting the needs of those we care for.
  • I will be developing and maintaining relationships with people, team members and the local community.
  • I will be positively encouraging choices in keeping with the rights of people with a Learning Disability.

Points to note…

Who Will I Be Supporting?

Step into a rewarding role where you’ll support 4 amazing ladies and 2 gents, aged 50s to 80s, in their shared supported living home. Our residents have learning disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, and complex needs. We’re looking for a confident driver who can handle a transit-sized vehicle and help our residents enjoy their interests, such as:

  • Music & Dance: Enjoying regular visits from a music man and dancing the day away.
  • Creativity: Crafting beautiful necklaces, solving jigsaw puzzles, and engaging in various arts and crafts activities.
  • Outdoor Fun: Going to the cinema, taking nature walks, and embarking on social outings.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Empowering Independence: Help residents live their lives how they choose and achieve their personal goals.
  • Daily Living Support: Assist with personal care, meal preparation, shopping, cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
  • Providing Care: Offer support with wheelchair assistance, medication, and provide emotional support.

Shift Patterns

  • Day Shifts: 7am – 9:30pm
  • Day Shifts: 7am – 3pm
  • Day Shifts: 2:30pm – 9:30pm
  • Sleep-Ins: 10pm – 7am (Paid To Sleep)

You will be supporting two friendly gentlemen in their 30s to 60s, both of whom enjoy leading active and fulfilling lives. They are eager to stay involved in their community, regularly engaging in activities like:

  • Attending social clubs and meeting with friends
  • Visiting the farm and participating in hands-on projects at the local "men’s shed" (a community workshop)
  • Going for walks and exploring their local surroundings

Though they lead independent lives, both gents need some support with day-to-day tasks. One gent benefits from using handrails for mobility support. Both enjoy being active and spending time out and about, making every day an adventure.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Support Worker, your role will be varied, rewarding, and packed with opportunities to build strong, trusting relationships. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Empowering Independence: Help them maintain their daily routines while encouraging their personal growth and independence.
  • Daily Living Support: support around the house with cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
  • No Personal Care: Aside from one gent needing support occasional assistance with washing their hair.
  • Community Engagement: Take them to the farm, social clubs, and other outings to stay connected with friends and the community.
  • Be Attentive: Use distraction techniques to manage behaviours of concern and ensure both gents enjoy a calm and supportive environment.
  • Be Active: Join them in their hobbies and interests, whether it’s walking, attending workshops, or simply enjoying the outdoors.

We are looking for Support Workers to help us fulfil lives at our residential service in Castleford, Wakefield (WF10!)

At Millennium, we support vulnerable adults that may have a learning disability, autism, other complex needs, and may also display behaviours of distress. Starting as one service in Featherstone in 1998, we are now a growing and forward-thinking organisation that strives to make a positive mark on the Health and Social Care sector. We operate services across the Yorkshire and Warwickshire area that specialise in supporting adults with learning disabilities, Autism and complex trauma on their journeys through life and in the community. From transitioning from hospital to a safe new home, to fostering friendships and building skills, we offer a person-centred support, tailored to support individuals no matter their circumstances.

We work in line with the Transforming Care Agenda and will support you to provide Positive Behaviour Support. This means the People We Support are provided with bespoke and person-centred support that will provide them with the foundations to gain further independence.

By following this model with us, you would be supporting people to gain life skills at home and in the community, which is an extremely rewarding opportunity as you will have a major impact on the lives of the People We Support by supporting them on their journey to further independence.

Experience is not essential, and you will receive full training around Autism, forensic risk, trauma informed support and positive behavioural support. You will also receive dedicated and person-centred support from your team leader through regular supervisions and guidance on your development. We want people who will support people in a positive way, no matter what their previous experience!
