The role

We are seeking an Accountant to join Marshall Motor Group’s Volkswagen Division. You will work to support the dealership with day to day financial reporting and management. Offered on a full-time, permanent basis, this role reports to our Franchise Financial Controller.

What you’ll do

  • Produce management accounts as required by the dealership leadership teams for each store
  • Assist in forecasting activities for your assigned division
  • Respond to queries from the dealership leadership team relating to financial and accounting matters
  • Provide day to day leadership to a small team of accounts and administration professionals
  • Liaise with divisional and group level accounting staff to ensure a consistent approach

Who you are

You will be at least part-qualified or qualified by experience with experience within an automotive dealership, however this is not essential. In addition to your previous experience you will demonstrate the following skills:

Reporting directly to the Board and managed day-to-day by our General Manager you will redefine and develop our financial management systems to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective distribution of our resources. MAIN PURPOSE

You will play a crucial role in the operational and transactional processes of the team, supporting the month-end and annual reporting cycle. DUTIES

  • Support the year-end accounts process.
  • Assist in the production of ad hoc financial and non-financial information.
  • The key contact in both Place Finance Teams in dealing with complex customer queries, which may require sensitivity and a persuasive response where conflict may arise.
  • Manage and plan own workload in accordance with local and national timescales and agreed objectives, being able to adapt where necessary when conflicting deadlines may arise.

  • Liaising with the internal departments of the organisation

  • Assist in preparing the Management Accountants.
  • Supporting in budgeting &variance analysis.

  • Confidence to post journal entries.

EXPERIENCE

  • Ideally worked as an assistant account or similar with a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Prior experience in handling sales invoices, customer queries and purchase ledger will be a definite advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ideally, you will be part-qualified, working towards a recognised qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT/IFA)
  • Basic accounting knowledge around accruals, prepayments and reconciliations is essential.
  • Xero knowledge is advantageous/preferred.

  • Ability to manipulate data using tools and formulas in Excel.
