The Role:

Duties include, but aren’t limited to:

· Build systems, sub-assemblies and piece parts for complex systems efficiently to the right quality levels

· Identify and resolve build problems

· Report technical issues and record using the FRACAS process

About you:

· Mechanical assembly or hands experience or motivation (assembly, fitting, vehicle fitting)

· Detail fitting skills to precision level,

· Ability to read mechanical drawings

· Ability to fault find and implement corrective action

Package:

· £35,000 – £41,000 per year

· Double day shift pattern (early finish on Fridays)

As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll:

What do I need to succeed?

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Previous Aerospace assembly expertise.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
  • Excellent manual dexterity for precision work.
  • ITAR restrictions apply.
  • Prior fuel testing experience.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the TM3 Asset Leader, the Mechanical Technician is a day-based role that safely drives asset performance and supports the shift teams on a daily basis. The successful applicant will be part of an ‘Asset Team’ to ensure all work carried out conforms to site standards, therefore delivering key KPI’s and the mill reliability strategy. The holder of this role will be required to implement the World Class Best Maintenance practices in a way that meets all Kimberly Clark’s standards and processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safety:

  • Comply with all KC Safety Systems & Processes
  • Assist in delivering line safety performance
  • Work to ensure Line Team ‘go home in same condition as they arrived’
  • Demonstrate and drive the KC 3 Safety Obligations
  • Complete Process Confirmation’s where required
  • Identifies and records unsafe conditions using our hazard identification system, ETQ
  • Works to approved Standard Operating Procedures as dictated by role profile in the site training system.
  • Uses site training system to agreed frequency and monitors updates to ensure aligned with safest working practices
  • Maintains a clean and tidy working environment, ensuring housekeeping standards are met at all times
  • Participates in proactive safety conversations with fellow workers and contractors to drive safety culture and logs these conversations in the ProAct system.

Quality:

  • Comply to all KC Quality Systems & Processes
  • Take decisive action when in “red condition” versus standard
  • Conduct all necessary Process health checks and essential care rounds to ensure product quality is met

Delivery:

  • Support the delivery of all TM3 performance targets
  • Prepare and Lead Planned Maintenance activities including all scheduled Planned Maintenance shuts
  • Assist with breakdowns and repairs on the asset
  • Complete and continuously improve preventative maintenance activity
  • Act on advice from condition monitoring reports
  • Gather data on asset failures and use to problem solve to root cause.
  • Contribute to failure analysis and implement countermeasures
  • Conduct Process Confirmation to ensure maintenance systems are adhered to
  • Where required, provide support across assets/departments
  • Management of CMMS backlog to agreed targets

Communication:

  • Proactively communicate clearly and concisely
  • Provide detail and fact in communication
  • Communicate conclusions and potential solutions to concerns identified
  • Communicates closely with immediate team and Asset Leader to share condition of areas of responsibility
  • Maintain customer/supplier relationships by adopting best practice communication standards

    • Understanding customer performance and issues
    • Feeding back actions taken to support customer
    • Confirming with customer that the action has been successful
    • Communicate issues and solicit critical feedback from the Mechanical engineer or engineering leader
  • Maintain continued partnering with asset teams, shift teams and support staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • An indentured Apprenticeship with (ideally) a HNC in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent
  • 2-3 years’ experience in an FMCG process/tissue/heavy engineering environment

TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Computer literacy skills
  • A ‘hands on’ approach to problem solving
  • A committed and flexible approach

  • Available to work flexible hours (where needed) outside of normal day hours to cover a business need, to cover shortfalls within the shift operations team due to resourcing issues, and to support a 24hr Call In Rota.
