Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated MOT Tester to join our team. The successful applicant will play a crucial part in maintaining the safety and reliability of vehicles on the road.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct MOT tests on a variety of vehicles, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Perform visual inspections and functional tests, including brakes, lights, steering, and suspension systems.
  • Use hand tools and power tools effectively to carry out repairs or adjustments as necessary.
  • Document test results accurately and provide detailed reports on any issues found during inspections.
  • Communicate findings to vehicle owners and provide recommendations for repairs or maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with heavy lifting of vehicle components when required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an MOT Tester or in a similar role within the automotive industry.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues effectively.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during vehicle inspections or repairs.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
  • A valid MOT testing licence is essential.
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members.

Job Description

MoT Tester / Technician

We are looking to recruit an experienced MoT Tester / Technician at our Bedford branch to undertake all maintenance, service, repairs and MoT activities on motor vehicles.

Ideally with main dealer experience, you will be carrying out work completely and effectively within manufacturers’ and Company servicing and repair times, you will ensure that work is always to the highest standard as you seek to achieve consistently high customer satisfaction and repeat / incremental business.

About you

You will have:

  • Level 3 qualification with at least 2 years experience in a similar role within the motor industry, ideally with Main Dealer experience, although this is not essential. Experience with our brands would be a distinct advantage.
  • MoT Testing qualification
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • An ability to be highly organised and able to prioritise workloads
  • A positive attitude at all times and always lead by example

Duties will include:

  • Delivering a fantastic customer experience.
  • Car repairs and servicing.
  • Diagnostics.
  • MOT testing.
  • Highlighting up-selling opportunities.
  • Completing work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Working alongside a team.

We offer a competitive salary of between £32-£36,000, plus a bonus scheme (OTE £40,000). Should you wish to take part in our CBS Car Scheme you can do so following successful completion of your probation. We are a fast-growing business and will be taking on additional brands in the future.

Our normal working hours are 4 or 5 days per week (weekdays only). You will also get your birthday off once probation has been passed.
