Job Overview
The Nursery Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. This position requires strong leadership skills and a passion for early childhood education. The Nursery Manager will be responsible for managing staff, developing educational programmes, and maintaining communication with parents and guardians.
Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate educational programmes that promote children’s development.
- Manage and lead a team of childcare professionals, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance.
- Maintain effective communication with parents regarding their children’s progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Ensure that all nursery policies and procedures are adhered to by staff and children alike.
- Organise staff training sessions to promote professional development within the team.
- Conduct regular assessments of children’s development and implement strategies to support their learning needs.
- Manage nursery budgets and resources efficiently to ensure sustainability.
Skills
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with staff, parents, and children.
- Proven experience in early childhood education or a related field is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to inspire and manage a team effectively.
- Experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is required.
- A proactive drive to create an engaging learning environment for children.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a busy nursery setting.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff members alike.
Requirements:
- Previous experience within a management structure in an Ofsted Good or above rated nursery
- Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification
- 2 years’ experience in a senior role within a nursery/preschool setting
- Passionate, approachable, caring, positive and friendly
- Ability to motivate, manage, and work effectively within a team
- Strong understanding of the EYFS and current Early Years Inspection Framework
- Thorough knowledge of child safeguarding and welfare
- Full-time availability, 40 hours per week across 5 days
Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
- Maintain high standards within the nursery, meeting EYFS requirements
- Provide leadership and support to staff
- Implement safeguarding policies and procedures and EYFS guidelines
- Promote positive relationships with parents, carers and outside agencies
- Oversee staff training, recruitment and development
- Manage administrative duties and regulatory compliance
