Working hours: 9:00am to 12:00pm, 4 days a week plus weekly Faculty meetings. (13 hours)

Annual leave: 5.6 weeks in school holidays

Contract type: Maternity Cover

Salary: £9,149-£11,717 (FTE £28,152 – £32,305) depending on experience

At Michael Hall we currently have 2 Kindergartens, 1 Forest Kindergarten, 2 Saplings and our Early Childhood Department is well established and supportive.

The role is to initially host 4 Parent and Child (0 mths to 4 Years) sessions per week for 35 weeks of the school year. When numbers allow the number of sessions can grow to 5 sessions per week.

There is no assistant to this post.

The Role Includes:

  • To hold a group of toddlers (and/or infants) and their parent(s), helping them to engage in the social setting, within a rhythmically structured morning.
  • To encourage age appropriate play and inspire parents through example.
  • To provide warm tea and a snack
  • To lead in craft activities e.g., bread making, painting etc.

· To work alongside the Early Childhood department for support and advice

· To adhere to Michael Hall’s policies and procedures, and to use them to inform your practice

· To actively engage with the wider school grounds, incorporating it into the sessions throughout the year.

  • To attend training sessions and uptake school’s online training resources (e.g., First aid, fire safety, safeguarding, health & safety)
  • To maintain the environment and set out the room for each session and to ensure all equipment is stored away tidily and safely after the session
  • To ensure that the environment is clean and tidy after every session
  • Order materials
  • To manage the care of children needing first aid in cooperation with the child’s parent/carer and with the required training
  • To promote appropriate events associated with the school and provide parents with relevant information
  • To provide a gateway to the school, working to bring families into the school community and encouraging applications for Kindergarten and Saplings
  • To present the Waldorf approach to parents and carers, verbally and through example
  • To regularly participate in Early Childhood faculty meetings and develop practice.
  • To liaise with the INCo and DSL regarding any child with SEND and Safeguarding concerns.
  • To be familiar and learn about the principles of Waldorf Education and work within them.
  • To keep information confidential
  • To comply with any other duties reasonably requested by the school.

Essential to the role:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong self-motivation, perseverance and sense of responsibility
  • Suitability to work with children and willingness to undertake an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and barring Service before appointment
  • Qualified first aider or willingness to undertake First Aid training
  • Food Hygiene certificate
  • Understanding of the Pikler approach to early childhood
  • Uphold kindergarten policies, curriculum guidelines and
  • Uphold Governmental/Children’s Services policies and guidelines
  • Be prepared to attend training days as necessary for the working school environment
  • Be prepared to achieve a paediatric first aid qualification
  • Keep up to date with National College online training/CPD
  • Be prepared to support the running of the Early Childhood open mornings
  • Be eligible for registration under the Children’s Act 1989.
  • Be familiar with the EYFS regulations

Qualifications

  • A Waldorf Kindergarten Early Childhood teaching qualification.
  • A Holistic Baby and Child Care qualification
  • Early Childhood Educator qualification and have an interest in developing and learning about
  • Waldorf Early Childhood education

Pay: £9,149.00-£11,717.00 per year
