Payroll Officer – Salford

Marlowe Fire & Security are the fastest growing fire & security business in the UK. From initial design, supply and installation, through to ongoing maintenance and monitoring, we maintain the capability to help prevent, detect and monitor Fire and Security risks for our customers up and down the country. We are currently looking to appoint a new Payroll Officer based out of our Salford offices.

Marlowe Fire & Security’s Payroll Officer’s

Work within the Finance Department, this role is primarily responsible for the co-ordination and administration of the timely and accurate delivery of payrolls that are processed centrally for the Fire division. Additionally, the post holder would work on an ad hoc basis with Senior Payroll Officer on various projects across the Fire Division.

  • Maintain and update the payroll records and payroll spreadsheets.
  • End to end processing of monthly company payrolls
  • Preparation and completion of payroll related reports
  • Working with departmental managers ensuring all up to date payroll information and the correct documentation has been received monthly.
  • Completion of month end tasks including P45 for leavers, FPS (Full Payment Summary), EPS (Employee Payment Summary), Print /save reports for the period and to update payments file, Prepare and send electronic payslips monthly
  • Enter all new starters/ leavers in the month onto Company pension’s scheme via Website
  • Produce Pension Reports and upload into pension provider portal to process the DD
  • Prepare a listing of all AOE’s each month together with payment details for repayment.
  • Responding and solving first line employee queries regarding payroll.
  • Process leavers and all administration in relation to leavers in SAGE & Employee database
  • Control of payroll related HR paperwork.
  • Correspondence in relation to changes in payroll and deductions.
  • Ad hoc Payroll duties / projects as and when necessary

  • SAGE 50 payroll experience highly desirable

Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Exceed Academies Trust


We are looking to appoint a permanent Payroll Officer to work within our busy central finance team, based at the Trust head office at Horton Park Primary School in Bradford.

This will be a hybrid role (office and home working) but will also involve infrequent travel to our academies within Exceed Academies Trust.

Supporting the current finance team, working alongside the Chief Finance Officer, the Payroll Officer will possess a wealth of experience and knowledge to accurately advise stakeholders regarding all aspects of payroll including contractual/statutory sick pay, HMRC queries, salary calculations in line with various terms and conditions. In addition to this, the Payroll Officer will advise and support our staff with accessing their pay information via the external payroll provider’s ePayslips platform.

The role will be fast paced, varied and rewarding; you will work closely with the current finance team, whilst some collaboration with the central HR team will also be key to this role. If you are committed to delivering a high standard payroll service and are passionate about supporting employees with their payroll experience, then you will love working with us.

The right candidate will be a strong team player, proactive and innovative, with exceptional organisational skills. Previous experience of payroll administration is essential, ideally within an education setting.

Exceed Academies Trust, currently consists of fourteen academies; ten primary schools, an all-through primary-to-secondary academy, two alternative provision academies (Primary and Secondary), and a specialist setting for children/young people who suffer from social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
