Part time Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant (Green Wrythe, Carshalton, SM5 2DP)

Tuesday and Wednesday 9am to 6pm, Saturdays 9-1pm

An excellent opportunity to work as part of our dedicated and hardworking pharmacy team.

We are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant to provide a friendly, caring and professional service to our customers. This is a responsible position that requires concentration and a good eye for detail as accuracy is important. You must be able to work and communicate as part of a team in a busy fast paced environment be able to prioritise a varied workload and effectively multi-task.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Label, dispense and endorse prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure safe supply to patients in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Ensure the safe supply and appropriate storage of medicines.
  • Ordering enough medication and stock in line with company procedures to meet customer demand and date/usage checking to maximise availability and minimise waste.
  • Create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Assist where necessary with the preparation of monitored dosage systems to benefit patients on multiple medication regimes.
  • Check endorsements and patient declarations on prescriptions and file correctly to ensure maximum payments are received with minimal losses.
  • Process invoices and paperwork in a timely manner following company procedures.
  • Undertake all necessary housekeeping duties so that dispensary and back shop areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Participate in the delivery of any additional services (stop smoking advice, blood pressure testing etc) for which you will have received adequate training
  • Follow till processes including sales of over the counter medication, pharmacy merchandise and collecting necessary charges
  • Follow the sale of medicines protocol and use the 2WHAM questioning technique provide advice to patients on the use of medicines as well as general health and lifestyle matters.
  • Receive and hand out prescriptions under the supervision of the Responsible Pharmacist.

Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Dispensing Assistant to work at our busy pharmacy. Part time hours may be negotiable. A minimum level 2 dispensing qualification is an advantage although not a necessity however, experience in a customer service or healthcare environment would be of a benefit to the role.

Strong customer service skills and excellent verbal communication skills are required as well as being able to work well within a team. Attention to detail is a must and being able to concentrate and remain accurate in your work even when there are distractions. You must be self motivated, hard working, adaptable and prepared to learn new skills as well as being committed to helping drive the business and services which will be of great benefit to customers.

Responsibilities:
– Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently
– Review medication orders for completeness and accuracy
– Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations
– Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals
– Answer phone calls and address inquiries or concerns
– Maintain inventory of medications and supplies
– Collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to ensure smooth operations

Experience:
– Minimum level 2 Dispensing qualification preferred
– Previous experience as a pharmacy dispenser preferred
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing
– Knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, dosage forms, and drug interactions
– Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and technology
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The above experience is a preference but not a necessity as training will be given for the right candidate

If so you could be a great candidate and should consider the opportunity of joining us to train as a Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant in our busy and modern community pharmacy located Peacehaven.

Monday-Friday 9am – 6:30pm (with a one hour unpaid break). Plus 1 in 4 Saturdays 9am – 1pm.

Starting rate of pay: Up to £11.80 per hour- This will increase on successful completion of NVQ Level 2 dispensing assistant course.

The job is fast paced- the day really does fly by! You will be involved in different workstreams throughout the day as part of a team to achieve our goal of safely supplying medication, healthcare services and advice to our customers and the local community.

Our teams are small, friendly and work closely together – you will become an integral part of the team from the very start of your journey with Kamsons. Great communication with your colleagues and a teamly can-do attitude will be the key to success.

Within 3-6months of starting the role you will have the opportunity to undertake and work towards an NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant course*

(*There is a requirement for candidates to be placed on the correct course relevant to their role in pharmacy to further develop your understanding of the role)

  • Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Liaise with local surgeries and other healthcare professionals and handle queries regarding medication supply to ensure patients with medication and healthcare needs are met.
  • Participate in the delivery of any additional healthcare services for which you will have received adequate training.
