Picking Operative

Job Description

McKenzies is undergoing significant growth across Northern Ireland and Ireland, driven by the installation of a state-of-the-art shredding plant for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. As we expand, we are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Picking Operatives to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Sorting: Efficiently pick and sort various grades of metals from a conveyor within our picking cabins.
• Plant Operation: Safely operate and develop skills in handling various on-site machinery and equipment.
• Quality Control: Learn to identify and differentiate between different grades of metals to ensure high-quality output.
• Maintenance: Regularly inspect conveyors, plant machinery, and work areas, promptly reporting any issues or malfunctions.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to company health, safety, and environmental policies to maintain a safe working environment.
• Housekeeping: Assist in cleansing and housekeeping duties to ensure the site remains organized and clean.
• Additional Duties: Provide support for other tasks as required, contributing to the overall efficiency of the site.

Requirements:

• Willingness to learn and operate various plant equipment.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Prior experience in a similar role is an advantage but not essential.
