Production Operative (Packing Department)
Job Description
Matthews Cotswold Flour is a family run specialist flour milling business based in Shipton Under Wychwood. Milling and packing award winning flour for retail, Tesco, Waitrose, CO-OP and for artisan bakers around the country.
You will be working within the production team but also within a larger operations team. Your role will be to run serval production & packing machines that allow us to deliver our award-winning flour to our customers.
This role operates on a shift rotation to include earlies, middle shifts and evenings. There is also the opportunity for overtime at weekends, holidays and nights (when required). You will receive training for the role and will be reviewed on each stage.
Pack flour and adhere to any mixing recipes, related to the required specification. Test and check for a quality product release. Update all necessary computerised forms. Participate in and encourage a positive Food Safety Culture. Full training will be provided.
Complete or adhere to all Operating Procedures (OPs) and maintain all designated paperwork systems.
Follow any established routines on the packing line and associated OPs, paying particular attention to print codes/labeling, correct bag identification and pallet quality.
Adhering to quality specifications, product/mixing recipes and correct flush procedures.
Test critical control points (CCPs) at the start of the shift and each new product changeover plus four hourly as per the Operating Procedures and take immediate action as required if the CCP should fail, including escalating any problems immediately.
Accurately visually check all products being packed. Test any product as per operating procedure and store samples accurately. Record all findings and maintain all designated paperwork systems. This is to support traceability, food safety and protect product quality.
Understand and follow all health and safety requirements and food safety standards. This includes the wearing of clean uniform and the wearing of PPE without exception. The safety of our product, customers and each individual is everyone’s responsibility.
Check and maintain stocks of packaging materials to meet future requirements
Maintain a clean and tidy work area and follow a correct handover.
Operate machinery safely.
Communicate and co-operate with your colleagues in Production and other areas to support efficiency and a shared sense of team working and food safety.
Forklift licence is ideal, but not a deal breaker.
A good working knowledge of a packing plant and operating procedures is ideal.
