THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Manager to join our rapidly growing Qualifications Division.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in a similar role, with the ability to delivery on a variety of projects and activities.

The Quality Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the company’s products and services meet the required standards and satisfy customer expectations. Their primary responsibility is to designing, creating, developing and maintaining the MRMC Quality Management System, as well as provide training and staged roll out of QMS. The successful candidate will have experience and proven success in as many of these areas as possible.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Designing, creating, developing and maintaining the MRMC Quality Management System
  • Providing training and staged roll out of QMS
  • Ensuring the MRMC Quality processes and procedures are in compliance with all relevant standards, regulations, MRMC QMS and Nikon requirements
  • Designing, implementing and scheduling internal audits
  • Managing Nikon audits
  • Ensuring the MRMC QMS demonstrably meets business requirements
  • Ensuring all QMS procedures are accurately recorded, reviewed, utilised and revised
  • Driving Quality event investigations, outcomes and effectiveness checking
  • Point of contact for all QMS matters
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement
  • Participates in the training of colleagues on the requirements surrounding investigations, documentation and records management
  • Communicates best practices to staff during department meetings and assists in group training as directed
  • Performs analysis of data (monthly metrics)
  • Ensures documentation is current and available for use
  • Coordinates and records management activities to ensure effective and efficient compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Reviews and maintains records retention schedules; and participates in maintaining compliance to corporate and site document and records management programs, systems and procedures
  • Performs routine internal audits and generates reports to management
  • Assists in regulatory audits

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in either Quality, Regulatory, Engineering, Business or Electronics

Professional Skills

  • 3 years’ experience with Quality, and Regulatory field would be advantageous
  • Building a QMS for ongoing maintenance and management
  • Updating, improving and compiling SOP’s
  • Internal Auditing
  • Quality systems training
  • Leading quality improvement projects
  • Experience and knowledge of standards and regulations in Engineering and Electronics (Global Customer Base)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of investigation techniques
  • Experience with compliance assessments, gap assessments and risk management assessments beneficial
  • Experience with program change management practices, lean or six sigma, program, and system integration efforts beneficial

It’s our task to keep over 8 million Londoners safe, and you’ll have a key part to play in that. This is because as a Quality Manager, you’ll make sure this crucial area meets the requirements of the Statutory Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice.

Whether you’re a Quality Manager at the moment or an experienced Lead Auditor, this is your chance to move into the fascinating arena of public safety and security in the capital. You’ll be part of a team of Quality Managers who are designing, building, maintaining and continuously improving a Quality Management System (QMS) to cover all Forensic Science Activities. It has to not only meet International Standards and the needs of Forensic Services, but also the requirements set by the EU, the Home Office and the Forensic Science Regulator.

That’s a challenge in itself. As importantly, this role will put you right at the heart of it all. You’ll plan and prioritise areas for improvement against strategic business objectives. You’ll deal with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Home Office, Accreditation and certification bodies as well as the Senior Leadership Team. You’ll manage Quality Systems Auditors and inspire forensic technical staff to shape and deliver the QMS. You’ll give expert advice, provide leadership and represent the MPS at a national level.

Clearly, your communication, organisation and strategy skills are going to be key. You must also be an articulate Lead Auditor with proven experience in Quality Management, who has designed or at least contributed to building a QMS and developed in-depth knowledge of relevant international Standards.

You’ll bring us your ability to understand and interpret Standards in order to determine the most appropriate implementation methodology, and a good knowledge of recognised Quality Management tools and techniques. It would be ideal if you have line management experience as well.

The role holder will be required to:

  • Accountable for the delivery of the internal quality assurance programme, action plan, allocate owners and manage completion
  • Responsible for monitoring if assurance findings are followed up by the owners for closure of any non-conformances and/or observations and flag any discrepancies

About the role

Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar capacity
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and/or 27001
  • CQI / IRCA Training Internal Auditor Certification
  • Good oral/verbal communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience of GAMP 5 qualification and validation advantageous

Requirements:

  • Trained Internal or Lead Auditor (ISO 9001)
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 management systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of OHSAS & ISO 14001 management system requirements
  • 2-3 years demonstrable experience in a similar role/industry (Quality control in civil engineering or construction)
  • Accredited qualifications to reflect role (e.g. completion of appropriate training courses to support CQI Professional level / MCQI & CQP membership of the CQI / Diploma in Risk Management (IRM))
  • Good understanding of risk management
  • Self-motivated, to constantly improve upon established quality standards
  • Good understanding of corporate strategy, values and objectives

The project:

You will be responsible for the management and delivery of the quality management system at a project level. Provide support to the project team in the delivery of our processes and procedures to ensure compliance with the both the company ISO9001 accreditation and the clients expectations. Manage and develop the supply chain in the implementation of their own management systems. Support in the delivery of project handover documentation and work closely with the quality team to identify and implement improvements, in line with the changing requirements of the Aviation division.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Review and monitor the effectiveness and operation of the management system including propose and implement improvements as agreed with the management team.

  • Support the completion of ISO Management review meetings.
  • Assist in developing the Quality competencies of project staff, identifying training requirements and facilitating improved knowledge of the quality requirements.
  • Develop and present course materials to assist in the development of Aviation staff in the quality requirements.
  • Liaise with and support external audits (client, BSI etc) and support the Aviation business with closing out raised actions.
  • Liaise directly with the client’s management team at all levels, working collaboratively to deliver the client’s expectations of Quality assurance.
  • Attend client meetings to represent Mace / Projects where Quality topics are being discussed.
  • Provide guidance to Project Managers of the client’s quality expectations (Employers Requirements), assist in the development of project quality systems, attend relevant meeting.
  • Assist projects in approving supplier Quality Plans & ITP’s.
  • Provide guidance to the supply chain of the client’s quality expectations (Employers Requirements), assist in the development of supplier’s QMS to ensure a consistent standard of delivery on our projects.
  • Develop the skills and knowledge of peers, providing consistent levels of understanding and delivery of the quality requirements.
  • Provide support to the business development function for pre-qualifications/tenders on request, particularly on Quality Management questions.

  • Facilitate the project level defects identification process. Facilitate Inspections with the project delivery teams, Designers and Suppliers prior to facilitating inspection with the relevant Client departments.
  • Support the Handover Managers in the effectiveness of our project delivery of Asset Technical data.
  • Support Handover Manager in the collation of KPI data for the Aviation Sector against Asset Technical Data Management objectives and targets.
  • Provide support to the Project Managers/Handover Managers of the client’s expectations (Employers Requirements), support in the development of the project delivery strategy and systems.
  • Support the Handover Manager in providing guidance to the supply chain of the client’s expectations (Employers Requirements), support in the development of supplier’s competence to ensure a consistent standard of information delivery on our projects.
  • Support the Handover Manager in the utilisation of a suite of delivery tools to ensure Asset Technical Data is delivered effectively on each project.
  • Support the Handover Manager in the development of the skills and knowledge of the project team, providing consistent levels of understanding and delivery of the Asset Technical Data requirements.

You’ll need to have:

  • A relevant degree qualification.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 is desirable. conversant and are QMS Auditor trained.
  • 5 years project experience.
  • You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.
  • A construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
