Rail Logistics Planner
Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Rail Logistics Planner within our Service Design Planning team here at DB Cargo UK’s Head Office at Doncaster.
This position is Responsible for converting the customer forecasted demand into a workable efficient working timetable train plan which is mutually beneficial to both customer and DB Cargo alike. Negotiating with Network Rail the improvement of our current timetable and to further optimise existing WTT paths.
The starting salary for this position is £34,123 and once the successful candidate has reached full competency, this will be increased to £35,672 per annum.
What will you be doing?
Ensure that all WTT train services are correctly reflected and all national time-scales for timetable production are met.
Challenge Network Rail timetable to ensure DB Cargo UK services are planned via the most efficient route possible using the journey database.
Time services in accordance with industry guidelines and ensure that the DBC UK portfolio of paths is constantly maintained.
Maintain an overview of the efficiency of the planning and diagramming output to deliver an effective and efficient product.
Work in accordance with key improvement metrics.
Working in partnership with the relevant company stakeholders.
Work with the departmental Managers to deliver efficiency and optimisation opportunities.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a candidate that currently works in the rail industry, for a non-rail industry logistics company or one with planning experience. If you don’t have experience in these areas but would like to pursue a career in the Rail Industry or within DB Cargo itself, we also encourage your application.
We are looking for a candidate who has good communication skills with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders. With the nature of this position, a meticulous keen eye for detail is desired as well as the ability to identify efficiencies and challenge the norm.
We are also looking for a candidate who can be flexible and problem solve as this is a large part of the role. Microsoft programme skills are essential as well as excellent data handling skills, along with a due diligent hands-on approach is desired.
Previous experience or knowledge of railway IT systems and UK railway geography would be advantageous but not essential.
