Deichmann are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Retail Supervisor to join the team in our Dundee store.

You will be offered a competitive hourly rate of up to £12.64 per hour + non contractual, hourly sales commission.

At Deichmann, our Retail Supervisors play a vital role in supporting the store management team and deliver an exceptional shopping experience to our customers.

This is a part time, permanent position and you will be contracted to work 16 hours per week.

You will have a positive attitude towards providing exceptional customer service, the ability to lead a team, the stamina to work on a fast-paced shop floor and the capacity to work calmly under pressure.

You will have previous retail experience and ideally will have worked as a supervisor previously.

Key activities:

  • Lead and supervise the store team in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Open & close the store, including cashing up and completion of associated administrative duties.
  • Offer excellent levels of customer service and have a strong product knowledge.
  • Lead by example, by recommending and promoting complimentary products with each sale.
  • Assisting management in leading the team, to achieve store sales targets and KPI’s.
  • Support team members as and when required.
  • Ensure that the store is correctly merchandised, product displays are refreshed and inviting to the customer.
  • Process stock deliveries and store transfers.
  • Deal with customer queries and complaints.

Personal characteristics:

  • Able to take direction from management regarding additional tasks and duties.
  • Previous supervisory experience including cashing up and banking.
  • Self-motivated, with a positive, can do attitude.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, coach and work with a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to approach and serve all customers.
  • The drive to exceed monthly performance targets.
  • Methodical approach to completing daily tasks – including stock SKU management.
  • High levels of attention to detail.
  • The ability to work both individually and as part of a diverse team.
  • The commitment to work 16 hours per week and the flexibility to work any day (Monday – Sunday).

What will I do as a Retail Shift Leader:

You will work in a customer facing role, running shifts daily, while driving sales, maintaining health and safety standards, leading, and developing the team. You will operate the till, stock, merchandise, recommend, box, and serve doughnuts, while also making both hot and cold beverages as requested by customers. In addition to your day-to-day responsibilities, you will assist with stock checks, end of week, recruitment, and retention. At times you will act as the retail manager, taking ownership of the entire operation for example during holiday or store cover.


What we’re looking for in a Retail Shift Leader:

  • Previous experience in a similar position or desire and ability to step up into a leadership role is essential

  • Full availability to work between Monday to Sunday with flexibility to work across the store operational hours.

The Role

Our Retail Supervisors are an important part of the team working with the manager, assistant manager and volunteers in the day to day running of our shops. Our supervisors are self-motivated, customer-focused, and able to follow tasks as well as use their initiative. Our shop days are fast-paced and varied so you will never find yourself with nothing to do.

This position is for zero hours per week, including Saturdays and Sundays providing holiday cover as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SALES

– Ensure sales targets are achieved and costs are controlled

– Maximise department sales and Gift Aid within the shop

STOCK MANAGEMENT

– Assist the Manager in the control of pricing in line with company policy

– Assist in managing the sale of new goods in line with company guidelines

– Assist in managing stock room systems to ensure quality control, stock density and rotation

– Apply company display, merchandising and window dressing standards

LINE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

– Recruit sufficient number of volunteers to ensure adequate shop support at all times

– Assist the Manager in organising sick and holiday cover

– Assist in the training of staff & volunteers

– Develop the shop team through effective leadership, communication & supervision

OPERATIONS

– Take responsibility for managing the shop when the Manager is absent.

– Assist the manager in promoting excellent H&S culture throughout the shop team in accordance with MiA’s Health and Safety Policy & Procedures at all times.

– Security – act as key holder; ensure security of cash, stock, staff & premises, adhering to company cash handling procedure
