The Governors of Ripley Nursery School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible individual who has clerical and administration experience to support our school governing body on a part-time basis.

The post requires attendance at approximately 13 meetings per year. Meetings normally take place in the early evening.

Clerks play a vital role in organising governing body meetings and recording accurate minutes, whilst advising the governing body on changes in relevant legislation, policy and governance issues. You will provide professional support to our governing body to enable them to maximise the performance of the school and support the progress of children.

You will need to be able to work under your own initiative, manage deadlines, update and keep accurate written and electronic records. The ability to remain impartial, comply with data protection legislation and maintain confidentiality is paramount.

Job Description

Thank you for taking the time to look at becoming part of our vibrant junior school. The governors and I are looking to appoint a friendly, professional and efficient Clerk to Governors to work alongside our governors. The role is for 3 hours a week to be worked flexibly around the governors’ meetings.

The successful person would need to be organised and proficient in computing skills. You would have a positive attitude, committed to promoting our school and helping it move forward.

Job Description

Ladycross Infant School is a large, happy school in Sandiacre. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clerk to the Governors.

This is a key role supporting our Local Governing Board in the strategic management and development of our school.

The purpose of the clerk’s role is to:

  • Provide effective administrative support to the governing board and its committees
  • Ensure the governing board is properly constituted
  • Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements
  • Provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters

A willingness to work flexibly is required as the workload is variable. This includes attendance of 10 meetings per year on Thursdays at 4.30pm or 5pm. The post involves taking minutes, circulation of reports, preparations of agendas, letters and other specific duties for which close liaison with the Headteacher, Office Manager and Chair of Governors is essential.

Knowledge of how schools and governing boards operate would be an advantage along with previous experience of similar work but full training can be provided.
