Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of mechanical design projects, from concept to production.
  • Lead a team in creating, testing, and refining new designs for heavy machinery.
  • Produce detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years plus experience in crushing and screening
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Job Description

MGF are currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join a leading Temporary Works Engineering department, based in Livingston, Scotland.

Specialising in temporary works design, the successful candidates will be working within an engineering team with full tech responsibility for your own projects.

You will be required to use your industry experience to support MGF’s engineering team with complex, below, and above ground structural support schemes, offering technical assistance to the wider engineering team. Your design solutions will be based around MGF’s modular hire fleet, but not excluding bespoke structural steel, timber, and concrete as required.

As a Senior Engineer you will help manage and oversee the daily design workload, working closely with the Regional Sales Managers across the UK. You will provide technical guidance to the Sales team, whilst supporting the internal design team including Graduate Engineers, Design Engineers and Technicians. You will also support the Design Manager and Engineering Manager with department efficiency, training, recruitment, offline projects and assist with bespoke engineering projects when required.


Examples of the Temporary Works schemes you will be involved with are listed below:

  • Temporary & permanent excavation support including large basement propping (CAT 2/3)
  • Needling & propping of buildings
  • Dead shores / back propping
  • Façade retention
  • Temporary bridge jacking
  • Temporary crash decks
  • Plan bracing (Internal buildings)
  • Masonry Bridge arch propping


Your key responsibilities may include:

  • Manage the delivery of the core design workload
  • Managing your own design workload as well as others, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the department
  • Production of TW’s designs and drawings on a day-to-day basis to satisfy customer demand (CAT 2-3 in accordance with BS5975:2019)
  • Checking designs/drawings (CAT 2 in accordance with BS5975:2019)
  • Identify training requirements with Graduate Engineers / Design Engineers within their job role and implement adequate training plan
  • Actively assist with the training of engineering staff
  • Assist the Engineering Management team as required
  • To produce “one-off” project work as directed by the Engineering Management team / Directors
  • Provide technical support to the sales team / customers (project and business related.


The core requirements for this role are:

  • Thorough understanding of structural behaviour
  • Thorough understanding of CDM 2015
  • Good understanding of geotechnical engineering principles
  • Experience with designing Structural Steel, concrete, and timber
  • Able to apply sound independent engineering judgement in respect to technical and commercial decisions
  • Thorough understanding of embedded retaining wall design
  • Experience of industry standard retaining wall design software (CADS Piled Wall Suite, WALLAP)
  • Latest drafting software (Autodesk Revit)

Job Description

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will apply your expertise and passion into engineering our seating products through customisation and reconfiguration to suit the customer’s requirements for installation on different airframes. In addition, you will take ownership in delivering work packages within the applications engineering function, achieving on time product delivery and compliance to the regulatory requirements.

Working closely with other Mirus functional teams and external stakeholders, you will ensure effective & efficient configuration, customisation and design of aircraft seating products.


YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBLITLIES:


In your role as our
Senior Design Engineer, you will:

  • Engineer our seating products through customisation and reconfiguration to customer’s requirements and installations on different airframes.
  • Deliver work packages for linefit and retrofit engineering projects, achieving on time product delivery, to specification, ensuring compliance to the airframe and regulatory (CAA, EASA and FAA) requirements.
  • Generate and contribute to the generation of customer delivery timing plans, and actively engage in measures to adhere to plan.
  • Conduct presentations externally at critical reviews to the customer
  • Liaise with certification, test and stress teams to ensure designs meet the structural and aircraft airworthiness requirements


About you

Desirable:

  • Experience in the latest manufacturing techniques such as injection mouldings, vacuum forming, castings, forgings, extrusions and machining from solid

Job role:
