An exciting Band 5 opportunity has risen for a highly motivated Senior Theatre Practitioner, NMC Registered Nurse (Level 1) or a Registered Operating Department Practitioner with excellent communication skills to develop their theatre skills.

Alan Cummings Day Surgery Unit consists of 6 Theatres and a 30 bedded ward area, situated within the Princess Royal University Hospital premises in Farnborough.

The successful candidate will be working in a busy and fast pace area working within a multidisciplinary team caring for patients undergoing Gynaecology, Vascular, General surgery, Breast, laparoscopic, Dental, orthopaedics, Urology, Pain, Max Fax, Paediatrics and ENT Surgery.

To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to both perioperative patients and their relatives within the King’s College Hospital.

Work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide continuing care to a group of patients from admission to discharge in the department.

To assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of practitioners within the Department.

To act as a clinical resource within the Department and across the Care Group as necessary.

To act as appositive role model to junior members of staff.

To report adverse incidents which occur in the department as per policy and assist in the investigation of such incidences as necessary.

To demonstrate effective communication and customer care skills with patients and their relatives/carers, thereby acting as a positive role model.

MediTalent are seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner to work for our client – a leading healthcare provider in their State-of-the-Art Hospital based in Enfield.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Valid NMC/HCPC Pin: A valid pin from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is mandatory.
  • Relevant Experience in Theatre Settings: The successful is required to have experience in areas such as scrub nursing, recovery (post-operative care) and / or anaesthetic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing Clinical Support in Operating Theatres: Direct involvement in assisting during surgeries or other procedures, which could include helping with anaesthesia, monitoring patients and / or assisting surgeons during operations.
  • Setting Up and Manipulating Specialist Equipment: Assist with the preparation and handling of surgical tools, machinery, and medical equipment used during procedures. This may also involve maintaining and troubleshooting equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Assisting in Patient Collection, Transfer, and Positioning: Ensuring patients are safely collected from wards or preparation areas, transferred to operating rooms, and positioned correctly on the surgical table. This task involves careful coordination to avoid any harm to the patient during handling.
  • Act as role model to Junior staff members: Support and assist Junior members of staff, to ensure everything is running smoothly within the department.
