Are you passionate about organic search and experienced in delivering exciting SEO strategies for clients?
We’re looking for a senior and highly skilled SEO specialist to join our talented team.
You’ll need to have solid experience of SEO in a specialism such as tech, digital PR, or content, with the ability to move into a broader role developing impactful SEO strategies across all areas.
Note: We work from the office 3 days per week and are based near the Metro Centre in Gateshead.
The role
Reporting directly to the Organic Search Director, the SEO Lead will play a pivotal role in helping clients achieve their commercial objectives by driving sales, enquiries, and leads. While traffic growth, keyword rankings, and visibility will be important, the focus is on delivering tangible business results.
You’ll work closely with clients, our client services team, and the wider SEO team to deliver positive performance across accounts.
Our client portfolio spans a wide variety of industries, including white goods e-commerce, used cars and dealerships, and B2B lead generation. Clients include both national and international businesses, ranging from enterprise-level e-commerce brands to regional operators with varying SEO needs. Some clients require advanced enterprise SEO knowledge, while others focus on international optimisation.
Our SEO department is divided into three key areas: SEO Strategy, Content, and Digital PR (DPR). This role sits within SEO Strategy but we welcome candidates with specialisms in any of these areas.
In addition to delivering exceptional results, you will play a key role in mentoring and guiding team members, sharing your expertise, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
We’d also love to consider this person for a future SEO Manager role within 12-24 months, offering a clear progression pathway.
Key responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
# Developing and implementing strategic SEO roadmaps tailored to client objectives, focusing on driving sales, enquiries, and leads.
# Leading client strategy discussions, aligning SEO efforts with broader business goals and ensuring strong performance across accounts.
# Overseeing and guiding the execution of on-site and off-site SEO campaigns, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
# Collaborating closely with client services and other internal departments to deliver cohesive solutions.
# Mentoring and supporting the wider SEO team, sharing expertise to enhance their technical, strategic, and creative skills.
# Conducting advanced SEO audits to identify and prioritise impactful opportunities for optimisation.
# Driving the development of innovative SEO solutions, staying ahead of industry trends and integrating new technologies into processes.
# Representing the SEO team in key client meetings, providing actionable insights and demonstrating the value of SEO efforts.
# Reviewing and refining internal processes, ensuring the delivery of best-in-class SEO services and consistent client satisfaction.
# Keeping up to date with the latest SEO technology, Google updates and industry changes.

The person
Ideally you’ll have:
# Expertise in one or more areas: SEO Strategy/Technical SEO, Content, or Digital PR.
# A high degree of enthusiasm to contribute to and improve processes.
# A strong understanding of driving commercial outcomes through SEO.
# Passion for mentoring and guiding others, contributing to the growth and development of the team.
# Role model qualities, acting as inspiration for the wider team, leading by example and fostering a culture of collaboration.
And technically:
# Strong experience using Google Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics (GA4 & UA) & Google Keyword Tool.
# Strong experience using 3rd party SEO software suites – SEMrush, Majestic, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog etc.
# Solid understanding of performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition.
# Strong communication, copywriting and reporting skills.
# Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints.
# Strong MS Office skills particularly Excel & PowerPoint.
