I am currently recruiting for a Shift Engineer to join my client’s business based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, the successful Shift Engineer will be joining an established global group who will work a rotational 4 on 4 off shift pattern, carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance on their manufacturing equipment.

Shift Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all equipment operates fully.
  • Provide breakdown and maintenance support to a wide range of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Mechanical strip-down/re-assembly, basic wiring, and system testing.
  • Electrical fault-finding.
  • Strong communication skills and team player.
  • Ensure all maintenance is logged and documented.
  • Adhere to all health & Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.

Shift Engineer Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant recognised engineering qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering to a minimum level of NVQ level 3 or equivalent – ideally electrical.
  • Proven experience as a hands-on engineer.
  • Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills on mechanical and electrical systems including plc’s.
  • Experience working with motors, drives, gears, pneumatics, hydraulics, and compressed air systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams.
  • Experience working with automated systems would be advantageous.

Shift Engineer Benefits:

  • Salary is £42,000 rising to £44,000 after training period.

Overview

Montcalm Mayfair are looking for a skilled and ambitious Shift Engineer to join our team. Help to shape the Montcalm Collection’s next chapter and showcase your skills. Become a trusted ambassador for one of our hotels and take advantage of the opportunity to move between properties, achieving the service and product delivery standards for the department with a high degree of customer care and service.


Key Responsibilities

  • As a Shift Engineer, you are responsible for carrying out appropriate maintenance work promptly and to the highest standards to deliver an excellent customer care.

  • Implement company statutory and legal requirements including fire, health and safety, hygiene, electricity at work, and all local by-laws
  • Respond to all enquiries promptly
  • Follow planned preventative maintenance programmes

  • Follow C.O.S.H.H regulations, in particular the storage of hazardous substances
  • Carry Out Routine Inspections/maintenance of Property assets when required to the appropriate standard and ensure that timetables in place are met. The Shift Engineer will be expected to maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment and ensure that they are in an optimal operating condition by performing routine maintenance and repairs as directed upon request.
  • Supporting the recording of accurate utility costs by recording meter readings and monitor daily usage.

Overview:

  • An amazing opportunity to join the Maintenance team at The May Fair Hotel as a Shift Engineer.

Shift pattern – 4 on 4 off, working 2 days 2 nights

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Clearly understand internal and external customer requirements to facilitate effective deployment of resources to meet these needs within the agreed timescales
  • Care for assets through the effective use and interaction with the site computerised maintenance management system, stores and administration functions to deliver planned and unplanned maintenance in a timely manner
  • Take a shift team role or play an active part as required to manage any situation where animal welfare, people safety, environmental impact, plant/assets, or business integrity may suffer detriment or be adversely affected
  • Actively participate in department and cross functional operational meetings to monitor, improve and report performance against set KPI targets to ensure all aspects of engineering are effective with clear actions and focussed ownership to control and correct to root cause in a timely manner
  • To ensure the required standard of animal welfare, food safety, food hygiene, environmental controls/permits, GMP, and safe working practices are met by the self, team members, and contractors
  • Provide support and guidance on projects and improvements within the factory
  • Ensuring GMP standards are understood and maintained by all staff
  • Champion a culture of “team” at all levels
  • Maintain effective communication including timely escalation of appropriate information with all departments and site management
  • Take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions

Skills and experience

  • UK recognised electrical or mechanical qualification – NVQ level 3/equivalent or Above
  • Be able to fault find in both electrical and mechanical machines/systems
  • Ability to understand Electrical and mechanical Engineering Drawings
  • Basic PLC I/O understanding
  • Conversion qualifications (to Elec/Mech)
  • Good understanding of drives, motors, brakes, transmissions, closed loop feedback, transducers
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, hard-working and organised
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines eg production start up

Desirable

  • Experience in working in the food industry – especially Poultry slaughter/processing
  • Approved Health & Safety training certificate/qualification
  • Certified to BS7671 2018
  • SCADA, machine specific control systems
  • Programming VSD’s
