We have a fantastic opportunity within our Energy business for an ambitious and talented Site Manager

The Site Manager (Principal Contractor Site Manager) will oversee high-voltage projects (132kV to 400kV) across National Grid contracts. This includes managing infrastructure refurbishments and overhead line (OHL) works. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be the key on-site contact for clients, ensuring project delivery meets safety, quality, and efficiency standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage site operatives, subcontractors, and daily operations to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Lead weekly safety inspections and develop safety documentation (Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, etc.).
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure compliance with Inspection Test Plans (ITP).
  • Represent the company during client audits and progress meetings.
  • Oversee Temporary Works and coordinate all related activities as Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC).
  • Monitor performance against Health & Safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Manage material procurement, cost control, and work planning with project teams.
  • Ensure adherence to National Grid standards, project specifications, and legislation.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in Construction, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • National Grid Authorisation (or ability to obtain SR 163.11).
  • Minimum SMSTS, NEBOSH, or equivalent H&S qualification.
  • Experience with NEC Contracts, electricity transmission methodologies, and HSE regulations.
  • Strong communication and IT skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Full, valid driving license and willingness to travel across sites.
