Speech and Language Therapist, The Marbrook Centre, St Neots

£39,312 to £44,772 per annum depending on experience

Full and part time would be considered.

Are you a Speech and Language Therapist that is passionate about neuro-rehabilitation and supporting those with speech, language, communication and swallowing needs.

Working in a dynamic environment with a friendly multidisciplinary team, you will be providing comprehensive assessments and high quality evidenced based therapy interventions to individuals who have transferred to Marbrook from acute hospitals and other rehabilitation settings. The clinical caseload is predominantly communication and dysphagia across the Stroke/ABI/TBI populations.

We are looking for an SLT that has experience in assessing and providing therapy for communication and dysphagia in an adult neurological caseload. Those with less experience but a passion for neurological rehabilitation, evidenced by continuing professional development, are also encouraged to apply. Knowledge of a variety of adult speech, language, voice and CCD assessments (formal and informal) is essential, in addition to prior experience in carrying out both evidence-based and informal therapies. Experience in liaising with outside professionals, such as adult social care, is desirable. An interest in dysphagia and the ability to independently manage a dysphagia caseload is essential for this role.

As an SLT at Marbrook, you will have access to:

· Regular supervision from the Senior Speech & Language Therapist

· A friendly multidisciplinary team consisting of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Therapy Assistants, Clinical Psychology and nursing staff

· Regular on-site GP visits, and regular clinics led by our Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine for patient queries

· A wide range of communication assessments and therapy resources, including therapy iPads with app-based therapies installed

· A therapy-led service, where you can provide therapy at the frequency you deem clinically appropriate

· Multiple forms of therapy, including 1:1 therapy, group therapy, conversation partner training with significant others

· Weekly in-service trainings to support continued professional development, alongside the ability to request additional trainings to further your individual CPD portfolio

About us

The Marbrook Centre is a specialist inpatient neurorehabilitation unit in the St Neots area of Cambridgeshire. We hold three services within the one building;

-Eden – Inpatient Rehab Unit – our rehabilitation floor, is a Level 2 inpatient neurorehabilitation unit supporting individuals with acquired neurological condition such as stroke, TBI, and spinal cord injuries. Residents are usually on-site for therapy for 6-12

-Bray – Long-term Nursing Unit Providing nursing care for those with long-term neurological conditions

-Mayfield – Dementia Unit providing residential care for those living with dementia.

The role advertised will work predominantly on the Eden floor, with the opportunity to provide dysphagia input to Bray and Mayfield.

About the role:

We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will:

· To provide a speech and language therapy service to adults with acquired communication, cognitive and/or swallowing problems.

· To offer neurorehabilitation in a residential setting to adult clients, providing intervention on an individual or group basis as required.

· To provide specialist speech, language and swallowing assessments and neurorehabilitation to clients on the stroke pathway adhering to local and governmental policies.

· To provide specialist speech, language and swallowing assessments and neurorehabilitation to people as out-patients as required.

· To have a responsibility for developing SLT programmes and services for clients within NRS, under the guidance of the Senior Speech and Language Therapists.

· To provide advice to clients, their families and relevant staff on the management of dysphagia.

· To contribute to the monitoring and achievement of relevant standards.
