Job Overview
The Sports Development Director is a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for driving business development strategies, fundraising efforts, and increasing revenue through strategic partnerships. This individual will lead the development of comprehensive strategies to enhance organizational visibility, engage potential donors, and secure financial support. The role requires expertise in business development, sponsorship negotiations, and managing the department’s budget. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator, possess strong leadership abilities, and have a passion for advancing our organization’s mission.
Duties
- Lead the development and execution of strategies to generate revenue through sponsorships, partnerships, and business opportunities.
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals. Build and maintain relationships with current donors while identifying and cultivating new prospects.
- Develop and implement effective sports development strategies.
- Negotiate high-value sponsorship agreements and partnerships, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and growth objectives.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to implement digital campaigns and social media to engage donors, sponsors, and the broader community.
- Conduct market research to identify fundraising trends, opportunities, and potential business partnerships.
- Manage the preparation of development and business growth budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and resource optimization.
- Oversee the creation of compelling proposals and grant applications to secure funding and partnerships.
- Utilize platforms to track donor engagement, contributions, and other key performance metrics.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of sports events, including planning, budgeting, logistics, marketing, and post-event evaluation. Ensure that events are organized efficiently and deliver value for both the organization and its stakeholders.
- Lead and manage a team of Sports Development Coordinators across multiple sports disciplines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sports Management, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- Proven experience (5+ years) in sports development, fundraising, or business development, with a strong track record in securing sponsorships, partnerships, and donor contributions.
- Expertise in digital marketing strategies such as in social media.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience in budget preparation and management for development activities.
- Excellent negotiation skills, with a proven ability to negotiate and manage high-value contracts.
- Proficiency in using databases to manage and track relationships with donors and partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and communications for a variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Passion for sports and a deep understanding of the sports industry and nonprofit sector.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 per year
