We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Student Activity Co-Ordinator. For this role you will be required to work with students and colleagues to ensure that there is a rich and diverse programme of activities that the students at Derwen College can engage with during social times. To oversee and supervise communal areas and provide support and guidance to students as and when required.
Delivery of activities:

  • Ensure that the Student Union is opened at the correct times and that adequate supervision is provided to all students. Liaise with Support Practitioners or other relevant staff to ensure that all students have the appropriate level of support and guidance.
  • Encourage Student Participation in available activities whilst respecting their individual choices. Ensure that they are aware of available activities and that they can make an informed decision. Offer encouragement where appropriate.
  • Supervise the running of the Student Union Coffee bar ensuring that the correct processes are followed. Support students who are working in the Coffee Bar.
  • If activities are arranged by external organisations, be the key point of contact and ensure all activities are supported to run smoothly.
  • To support with behavioural incidents as and when required and ensure all relevant documentation is recorded where necessary.
  • Design and deliver a range of engaging activities in cooperation with students.
  • Lock up and secure relevant buildings at end of shift. Liaise with on-call maintenance if any issues with alarms or building access.
  • Develop rapport with students and encourage social inclusion.
  • Undertake administrative tasks (incl. entering relevant information on college databases, recording incidents, actions)
  • Health & Safety awareness and promotion in all aspects of the job role
  • To be aware of and work in accordance with the college’s safeguarding procedures to promote the welfare of vulnerable young people raising any concerns
  • Actively promote commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

For this role you will have a flexible working attitude as this role will involve evenings & weekends. (Every other weekend & 2-3 evenings per week)
