Support worker – External
Flexible working hours (Monday to Sunday including Weekends/ Bank Holidays)
Day, Night, sleep-ins and Long shifts available (8:00am-3:00pm/3:00pm-11:00pm/8:00am-11:00pm/11:00pm-8:00am) *Subject to demands of business.

Salary from £11.44 per hour (depending on experience)
Employment is subject to two satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS. Applicants should be 18 years or over.
KTL are looking to recruit a number of support workers to engage with young people leaving the care system across the East and West Midlands areas (Coventry, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire ,Derby, Nuneaton).
The workers will be a key influencer to support and mentor the service users through the transitional period as they integrate into society and independence. You will be providing dedicated support to a small client group within their own homes.
The work will be focused on supporting young people, teaching them life skills, collaborating with healthcare professionals, encouraging young people to develop their personal skills, providing them physical and emotional support and general housekeeping duties, including meal preparation.
The ideal candidate will evidence significant experience in safeguarding procedures and working with young people with presenting challenging behaviour and be willing to utilise their experiences and knowledge to benefit the move on process of the young person leaving care.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care in Child Care or equivalent is essential and must be willing to work towards Level 3.
- Must be able to travel to cover each area; commitment to the role and consistency of care.
- Willingness to work unsociable hours as required including Bank Holidays and weekends if needed.
- Relevant experience within children in residential care
- Willingness to provide sleep-in cover overnight.
- Educated to a good standard including GSCE or equivalent in English
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Experience and knowledge of dealing with safeguarding issues and procedures and keeping accurate records of all activities, progress, and incidents should they arise.
- Commitment to the safe care and well-being of vulnerable young people.
- Previous experience with young people aged 16-18 years old.
- Previous experience in a similar team/role in providing support to care leavers in supported accommodation.
Desirable Requirements :
- Diploma / NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care in Child Care or equivalent or working towards Level 3.
- Having access to own car and business insurance is desirable.
An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role.
You will need to have Excellent communication skills. Commitment to the role and consistency of care and Commitment to the safe care and well-being of vulnerable people. You must have knowledge of data protection and confidentiality.
