Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of Recruitment and Training, the Training Operations Manager will assume full responsibility for the Training function, managing and overseeing all areas of Training to include JAUPT, DVSA, City and Guilds.
The ability to deputise for the Head of Recruitment and Training when required and deputise for the Recruitment Manager when required.
Main responsibilities
- Responsibility for the overall performance and Operations of the Training Department to ensure delivery of performance against target
- Test Pass/Fail Debriefs with trainee and instructor
- Staff performance management and attendance management
- Ensuring we exceed our targets, maximising the number of new entrants we train and pass to garage
- Ensure the business is fully compliant with JAUPT and DVSA regulations
- Liaising with the engineers in relation to bus maintenance planning to include mechanical buses and buses due for rota
- Organise and manage staff rotas
- Trainee allocation
- Complete weekly and monthly payroll returns for trainees and trainers;
- Ensure that training documentation is up to date and relevant;
- Ensuring the Development Trainers are designing, compiling and delivering CPC courses to JAUPT regulations
- Periodic auditing of CPC classroom delivery
- Overseeing annual driver trainer assessments and arranging corrective training where needed
- Responsible for assisting with the financial budget for the department
- Inspires and motivates staff and encourages team work to enable them to utilise their full potential
- Carries out various ad hoc tasks, projects and various duties as required by the business

Industry knowledge, excellent organisational skills and natural leader qualities
Competencies & skills
- Applicants should be numerate, accurate in their work, with an attention to detail;
- They should be able to demonstrate initiative, flexibility and have a committed approach to their work;
- Must be proactive, methodical and results orientated
- A good telephone manner and the ability to get on with people and work as part of a team are essential;
- Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly and at all levels;
- Ability to operate as a team player;
- Ability to work well under pressure.
Hours of work
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, may be required to work outside of these hours in line with the needs of the business.
