Ward Manager

This is a full time roll for 37.5 hours per week.

The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern, to include nights and alternative Saturdays – With a scope of extending this weekend service moving forward.

Duties of this role include:

Responsibility for the day-to-day management of the hospital wards, outpatient clinics and Nursing team.

Provide effective clinical leadership and efficient management of resources, driving clinical excellence in all aspects of patient care.

Working to maintain and enhance the customer service and satisfaction of service users.

Responsible for leading and supporting the Nursing team to meet all aspects of the clinical governance agenda.

Conduct yourself professionally within the standard framework provided by the NMC code of professional conduct.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

· Evidence of relevant professional development, both clinically and managerially.

· Registered Nurse level 1 / Diploma / BSc in Nursing Studies

· Awareness of NMC code and accountability

· Recruitment and Selection skills

· Experience of working in an acute healthcare sector in a Senior registered nurse post or equivalent

· RGN with current pin

· Outpatient and pre-assessment experience

· Leadership experience

Salary and benefits:

Job Description

Duties Include Support the clinical team in implementation of an agreed plan of care with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received. Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Contribute to the legality and accuracy of the patients care plan/ and or other reports and the effectiveness of the established communication /reporting systems. Conduct regular ward meetings and action any discussion points made.

Complete annual nurse competency assessments and ensure assessments are given to new starters. Orientate and introduce new support workers and nurses to the ward. Ensure regular 1:1 meetings are completed and daily comm cells on the ward. Provide support and assistance to the head of clinical services.

All team members are responsible for behaving in a manner that does not put themselves, patients, visitors and other team members in danger or at risk in the clinical environment. Conduct yourself professionally within the standard and framework provided by the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Codes of professional Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). To take charge of the clinical area as required, ensuring effective operational management of the wards, preoperative assessment and out-patient clinics on a daily basis. Be an advocate for change, looking for ways to improve the value and effectiveness of care and services delivered.

Encouraging evidenced based clinical practice. Actively participate in customer satisfaction surveys and satisfaction action plans, leading by example. Compliance with KINVARA Policies and Procedures relevant to this role, ensuring you are fully aware of your responsibilities within these policies. Ensure effective communication channels are maintained across all areas of the hospital.

To assist and manage the maintenance of stock levels, including pharmaceutical products. To receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner and ensure all persons visiting the Wards and Outpatient Clinics are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner. To keep up to date with all mandatory training and revalidation Complete monthly, quarterly and annual audits. Ensure SOPs are up to date and relevant to practice carried out on the ward.

Complete rota in a timely manner and ensure adequate staffing levels considering competency. Participate in the out if hours on-call rota
