MTL Advanced is a Yorkshire-based steel engineering and manufacturing company operating from over a 300,000 sq. ft. facility in Rotherham.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will be responsible for:

  • As a “Team Leader” you are responsible for the team’s performance measured against Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality and Productivity targets.
  • You will manage your teams effectively to produce internal customers’ orders ‘On time and In Full’ by strictly adhering to the production schedule and meeting quality expectations while adhering to Environmental, Health and Safety legislation.
  • You will drive improvements in efficiencies throughout your department.
  • You will highlight training gaps to ensure your shift has the correct operator skill level to meet the manufacturing plan
  • You will ensure operators complete all production related documentation as per departmental procedure
  • You will ensure the operators fully understand the plan and their responsibilities to meet all key objectives.
  • You will monitor the operators to ensure they record contract documentation, correctly record process times and maintain high standards of workmanship
  • You will generate a good shift handover for the following shift team leader
  • You will ensure any maintenance faults and problems are reported.
  • You will drive the team to ensure correct marking up of component parts and use of the labelling system is adhered to
  • You will oversee any process changes which occur within the team and department
  • You will drive a safety-first culture
  • You will drive a ‘No Fault Forward’ culture
  • You will monitor and maintain workshop standards with respect to.
  • Safe and best practice is being followed
  • Housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Operators are following business and departmental process.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Experience in within a warehouse environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and build effective working relationships ·
  • Experience in a similar role/environment.
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety Legislation and additional MTL requirements
  • Understanding of Company quality procedures and specific customer requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively and use own initiative
  • Ability to lead and manage others to achieve desired results

Rotherham, Yorkshire

Hours of Work

Monday – Thursday 6am – 3pm and Friday 6am – 2pm.

Our Warehouse Team Leaders play an essential role in delivering customer experience across our stores – driving sales, promoting customer loyalty and maintaining high warehouse standards, whilst assisting the management team.


Responsibilities

  • Unloading deliveries, checking incoming stock and arranging items correctly
  • Maintaining the housekeeping of the warehouse and yard, ensuring it is kept safe and tidy
  • Overseeing the warehouse operations to maintain standards and stock control
  • Supervision and monitoring of stock processes and procedures
  • Working closely with the management team and staff members to maintain excellent communication and feedback, whilst highlighting any issues
  • Supporting and coaching other staff members and deputising for the stock controller in their absence

Job Description

Main Role Summary:

We are currently looking for an experienced Warehouse Team Leader to join our distribution centre in Suffolk. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team member on daily basis. You will be working closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure smooth day to day running of the warehouse and supporting the team to successfully deliver the department objectives. The role is hands-on and all normal elements of warehouse work such as taking deliveries, stock maintenance, picking, use of pallet trucks, and some heavy lifting is also included.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all phases of inbound and/or outbound warehouse operations including loading operations and material handling activities.
  • Maintains inventory and product loss control, coordinates timely and accurate shipping and receiving, and ensures safety/operational guidelines are met.
  • Ensure optimum levels of stock integrity are achieved through understanding of all processes and procedures of warehouse operations.
  • Manage, motivate, coach, and train the warehouse colleagues.
  • Deputise as necessary for the warehouse supervisor.
  • Ensure the highest operational standards are always deployed and productivity targets met.
  • Receiving stock into the WMS system and dealing with any discrepancies.
  • Ensure warehouse space is utilised effectively and kept clean and orderly.
  • Maintaining clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with expected 6s standards.
  • Ensure all products are handled as per client’s specification and orders generated are picked and despatched in line with customer expectation.
  • Ensure the handling product is carried out to the highest standards of health and safety, equally applying best practice to the protection and packaging of customer’s orders to sustain transition through carrier networks.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of consumables and packaging are available to meet with all customer order dispatch requirements.
  • Ensure area of responsibility is staffed commensurate to the achievement of scheduled and planned tasks in line with optimum service and cost efficiencies.
  • Ensuring accurate records are maintained as per site operating procedures.
  • Ensure all processes, daily checks, defect reporting, training, and operations of MHE are conducted in line with both company and legislative health and safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Working days/hrs will be on a rotational shift pattern, so flexibility is a must.
  • Previous experience of warehouse team management is desirable.
  • Qualified and competent to drive FLT.
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Word & Excel and familiar with Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Good communicational skills, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation.

This is a full-time permanent position for 40 hours per week. The warehouse is open 7 days a week, and you will be required to work 5 out of 7 days, rotating early/middle shift including weekends.
